PS: Noob Alert

Here in TE we can gets reps for good posts, by other members. Similarly if we do something that we should not, we may get infraction from a mod / admin. I want to know what exactly are they ?
I mean when we get reps that blue dot besides our username increase giving us some sort of title "honorable etc" in the course of time, so is infraction opposite of that ? Do those dots decrease when we are given one ?
Or is it that some sort of privileges are revoked or what is it ?

its just a warning. if you exceed certain infraction points , example 10? then you will get an autoban

Here, on TE as you rightly said, you get Reps for good posts. Similarly, if you violate any of the rules, you may get a warning or infraction from the staff. The offense decides if you get away with a warning or are awarded an infraction. While a warning is similar to a reminder, repeated offenses can get you an infraction. Each infraction has a weight associated to it. There is also a duration of the infraction which can be set by us. It can be set to expire in a few hours to days or never. Once a member accumulates 10 active infraction points, he is auto-banned for a specific period of time.

Your reputation does not decrease due to this, in the current system. However, staff members can also give you negative reputation which will go and decrease your reputation bar.

Also note that infractions serve as a reference for us staff members. We do not go easy on repeated offenders. It also helps us keep a track of the kind of violation a member has performed.

Hope this clears your doubts.

Thanks,

XT

I'm a bit curious myself with this infraction. I once got a infraction out of nowhere for my signature not being formatted according to the rules. I was totally confused. It was the same signature I had since I joined this place and it was just my PC configuration listed in a normal form. But still I got an infraction. Nevertheless, I removed that signature completely, thinking it was some offence to the rules. So does this infraction hamper my status here in anyway?

^^ No. It doesn't.

And regarding the signature, we were just enforcing the rules (and we still do :bleh: ) which were in place for a long time. And there was a general announcement in the forum for at least 2 days, giving members the opportunity to change their siggies according to the forum norms.

wat kind of violation is more serious than the other?

There are many factors that go into deciding how serious the violation is, the time a member has been here, the number of posts he/she has, past history, warnings if any etc.

(Dont get me wrong here, if you are here for a longer time, we donot go softer on you).

The rules keep changing. It is impossible to keep a check on everyone's signature all the time. Maybe your signature was not fitting the rules from the beginning and no one noticed it? We did, issue warnings in the form of announcements in the Announcements section after rules are changed. We generally give about 24-48 hrs after the rules change to conform to the signature guidelines. If your signature still does not conform to the rules, you get an infraction/warning.

Maybe, at the time you did not read the rule changes. Just for convenience, the currently implemented rules can be found at: http://www.techenclave.com/site-announcements/rules-and-guidelines-for-techenclave-138399.html
