What are some things you can buy within 500rs which can greatly enhance your life?

50*10 rupee lottery tickets. If none of the tickets win, then nothing. If even one gets a few thousand or lakh rupees it would help ease my finances a bit.

Yes, indeed the best use.. for some of us 500 Rs equals to almost nothing in our life but for someone else it could be a difference of day and night.
 
Maybe a cheap pair of running shoes so one can finally adopt the beneficial habit of running or a cheap gym membership. It can transform one's life like no other. Whether anything else transforms your life or not, i can gaurantee that any sort of intense physical activity over a period of time will totally change you :) . I know cuz i have been swimming without missing a day (ok maybe missed once or twice due to commitments) for the last 10 months.
