Review What are the risks involved with getting an item shipped by seller on olx via CoD?

Seller is selling a lot of GPUs. Some prices are high. Some are decent. Which makes me believe that the sales are legit. But seller says he can do CoD all over India. That was a flag I thought. How can a seller on olx be so ready to do CoD? Isn't it too risky for him and not worth at all? Seller is based in Delhi.

How do sellers pay for CoD in such cases?
Do sellers get their CoD money only after customer pays them? Or do they get the money in advance from the courier and in turn courier from customer?

My worry is seller might ship a broken down GPU (you can't ask gpu screenshots) or something else which is not GPU.
Can I make the courier delivery guy open the box and then refuse the package if it didn't have the item which I ordered?
And if I can scammed then can I Lodge a complaint with cybercell and can seller be arrested? Will I get refunded then?

You could but scams are way more common than you'd expect so realistically you can't expect anything from either a police complaint or from OLX.

You can if you;re able to convince the delivery guy but usually not.

I'm not sure about CoD logistics but I would definitely avoid stuff from OLX that's not a face to face deal. There are too many scams out there and most seller are typically open for a f2f visit at either their shop or some public location. Better safe than sorry

Bro avoid it.. I lost 10k on gpu.. he sent me 150 rs speaker.. never do such deals.. better ask someone from here to do f2f and then ship it for u..
Hahahahahahahahahaha so I was right then lol.
What "GPU" did you buy lol.
This the way of OLX deals. Don't take chances. As a community we should help one another. Someone from Delhi could help confirm the GPU works and purchase on your behalf.
High hopes lol.

Avoid it complete anything out of legit forums.
Even if f2f meet with any olx chap I will go in full preparation with gang of boys just for those in case foul play situations. Will ask few chaps to record video of the entire deal and few standing around hiding if that lad also comes with some cruel intentions..

But better not to deal on such platforms to be safe for self, mental peace and also in eyes of law!

olx has turned into sewage, but what you mentioned is scaring.. if there are goons on olx sellers.

Quickr actually had this 'escrow' service through which my brother sold his GTX780 to a guy in another city. Courier companies do provide a CoD service and when I had checked long time ago they used to charge 2% of the value of the product, just like they charge for insurance.
In my brother's case, everything went well but we only get to know the reality when something goes wrong. In this case, the only issue is if the product is damaged or faulty. I don't think any courier guy will allow you to open the package and test the GPU before asking for the money and therefore I would say that stay away from this. If some member from Delhi can pick it up for you, test it and ship it to you then that would be the best bet.

Yes heard about stories about the buyer or seller coming with few people just to overpower the other person and esp. at the last moment request humbly to come at some secluded place even though when it was agreed in front of a shop, inside a eatery hotel, bustops, stations etc.
I have made only 2 deals on olx/quickr and both on busy railway stations but thankfully the buyers were also cool people. But again this was way back in 2k8-10 when these platforms were considered trusted and highly preferred by the masses..

Holy shit some people must be desperate.
Anyway, if anyone in Delhi wants to check out the seller just google "GTX 1060." You will find him easily. I got desperate so went to olx.
And the search for a good gpu at a decent price continues...

Anybody here knows of how these people scam on OLX & Quikr?
I see so many ads, including premium ads for Apple iPad Pro 128 GB WiFi & Cellular at 35-40K, the retail price of this is 85K-1L, so 99.9% a scam.

The ads are easy. They can get a shit ton of money for little ad costs.
