Graphic Cards what can i do for this aging system?

Hi guys..

My current config is as such. amd 3200+ radeon 9800 256 mb and 1 gb of ram.

Rest of it is all standard sata drives and scsi for standalone drives.

I am looking to upgrade to

1 ) asus sli premium board ( both mid range and upper end ) ( budget between 7500 -11k)
2) 7800 gt or radeon equivalent of the same ( around more or less 24k budget ) ( would prefer an ati product but not averse to nvidia have owned both earlier )
3 ) twinmos ram 1 gb ( around 5.5 )
I just have two silly questions

1) Can i retain my amd 3200 + on the asus sli premium board?

2 ) If not what is the cheapest proc i can pick up.

If your 3200+ is Socket 939 then you can retain it on the asus sli premium board.
