San Francisco Muni, Bart and City Car Share.

Muni is the bus system..... Bart is the train system and City Car Share is pretty cool.

City Car Share has cars in locations all over the city, usually 1-3 cars per location and anything from a prius to a truck to a scion wagon. You sign up for the service and after approval you can reserve a car online by the hour which is great for running errands like shopping and other similar things. Gas and insurance are paid for by them.... and you pay $5.00 per hour and 40 cents a mile to use the car. You are given an electronic key and there is always a gas card in the visor for you to use if the car is less than half full. There are stiff fines if you are late dropping the car off so that other people are not put out.

Sometimes when we have errands to run on the other side of the bridge in the east bay, we will reserve the car there and take the train over there, this saves time and gas and mileage.

An awesome idea and in a city where parking is horrendous and tickets are common and expensive.
