I have a Flash Voyager 8GB pen drive, want to know the fastest file system for it for storing 4.5GB HD movies on it.

Is there any?

FAT32 IS FAST BUT CANT sTORE HD movies (File size bigger than 4GB) n NTFS is SLow+ Too many write Cycles for same data stored

TIA

^^ u have option of exfat in vista & win 7 , but that file system is not widely used , as yet...

So if u need more compatibility than u hv to live with ntfs only... else exfat can be used...

There was an update for exFAT for xp (was posted here few days back).

ntfs is bad choice as far as those flash drives are concerned (compared to exFAT).

Make a small partition in usb drive to carry the update for exFAT perhaps.

i have exFAT by default in my XP... is it readily supported by all XPs? i mean will the data be readable n writable in other frnd's windows xp normal editions?

My XP dsnt let me format the drive with exFAT. :(

EDIT: Found update in TE... Formatted exFAT :) BUt Question remains. Can it be Detected by default in any WIndows XP SP2 or HIgher??

One not make two partitions?

One small fat32 about 500mb for carrying data files and update for exfat. so that installing this will make exfat readable

other with best of space and format it as exfat:)

No. You need the update installed.

1. Carry the update with you :P

2. Just use winrar. It has a store option. Use that + split archive at 4Gb. Done. And its almost same speed as normal file copy anyway.

Thanks for the input guys... i guess maybe il have to go with partitions or single partition coz i revcenty wnted to take a document printout frm a shop n tht damn pc dint detect anything.. hence i thot .. COMPATITBILTY with All OS is much more important than speed/size handling.

hence im settling with fat32, will use winrar for big file transfers (i.e. HD movies)
