what gpu/software combo for video transcoding

which gpu/software(commercial/free) for faster video conversion from 700 mb .avi files to mobile format. or the second generation intel processors alone is required becoz of some video sync feature. a 2 hour video should convert under 10 min or so...is it possible
 
dude for only video conversion any sandy bridge will do more than enough... but for any 3d or video editing a GPU is a must. also for playing games and stuff. but for watching movies the inbuilt is enough.

try total video converter. seems to work nice for mobile conversion. otherwise xilisoft or tmpgenc is for more professional work
 
Try out Xilisoft video converter, its just wonderful, its good for beginners and if you stick with it for sometime, you will get to know its advanced features.
 
can any of these software can do the job in less than 10 mins for a 2 hour long movie. if accelerated video conversion which software/gpu combo. if xilisoft supports accelerated conversion which gpu to buy. if a 4850 will do the job in 10 min

It depends on the length of a movie... And IMO even the fastest GPU on earth wont be able to convert 2 hour movie in 10 minutes... Plus if you prefer speed over quality than GPU conversion would be good for you... I prefer quality over speed... Intel quick sync is pretty good for converting videos for handheld devices... But if you prefer quality over speed just like me then let the CPU handle the video encoding stuff... ;)
