Market Feedback What happened to my sale thread?

I don't get you guys. Why are you so insistent on spoon feeding the buyers? Let them do their own research prior to making a purchase. Do you also hang around your neighborhood shops waiting for people to buy stuff? And as soon as someone is about to buy something you jump out and announce that you can get the same thing for cheaper at a supermarket?

I don't hang around shops jumping out at ignorant buyers. I do however point out a better deal to my family, friends, colleagues etc. If I hear someone around me discussing a new phone/pendrive purchase I will share my knowledge of available deals/coupons etc to save them a few bucks. I also won't do it for complete strangers as already mentioned in the first line.
What you guys need to decide is whether you consider your fellow members as a close community or as a complete stranger.
I don't care if someone is using the forums to make a profit if the current rules allow it but if I can help someone save some money by pointing out a better deal I will do it. You want the buyer to do their own research, I want to provide my "relevant research" where it will be of help to the community. The buyer is always free to accept/reject it and research more about the item personally, so is the seller free to price his item accordingly.

Same here. I do not hang around shops. But i frequently (every week) shop at Dmart near my home and we have a reliance mart too. This in addition to local shops. I have friends and colleagues staying in/near my area and i tell them that my experience says dmart has the cheapest stuff (relative to MRP) and also give specific suggestions as to what is good where and all.

Another point to be made is that if the seller has priced the item well, this question would not arise. And being a forum, expect most of the chaps to have a point.

If the seller has doubts or is not in touch with the local pricing, ask the chaps on the forums themselves as to what would be the best price for the item [How much can I sell this for thread]

P

Just selling at higher price and skimming off money is not gonna work in open forums. .

Another delusion.

Almost all the items in market section will only get that price here, in forums. No where else. And majority of times, price policing ends badly. Everyone talks about this ignorant buyer. Still to meet the unicorn.

Market section in forums is a buyers market. Its not at all seller friendly. Public posting is nothing but peer pressure/bullying etc to MAKE/GET him lower the price. If you don't see the courtesy you are extending to the buyer by PMing him and giving him a chance to do the things. Let it be. I guess I will consider myself the weird/delusional one and do my part. :).

Have fun guys.

In that case I'd urge the seller to ignore such posts. At worst, you are getting free bumps and no matter what, genuine buyers will still buy if they like what they see.
And if seller finds it way too out of line, reporting is the next option. That way, the ball is lobbed in the mod's court to decide if a said post is akin to "thread crapping".

Might we add that we hardly get any reports from the market section anymore. Seems that most of the people are well behaved and there is no such crisis of thread crapping.

I thought mods are supposed to be proactive rather than reactive.

Nope mods are not supposed to be anything. If they come across something that needs moderation they do it. But they cant read everything that is being posted on the forum. That is why there is a well thought out report post feature so that the fellow members can report and bring something to the notice of the mods.
