This has happened twice now and is very annoying to say the least.

In the beginning itself, i would like to state that i mistakenly created a thread in the wrong section and it fully deserved a treatment.

What wasnt expected was:-

1) Thread be trashed straightaway instead of being moved.

2) No PM be sent when the thread was deleted.

While i agreee point 1 might still be out of its place, point 2 certainly isnt.

I remember the good old days when even deletion of a post was followed by a notification sent via PM. But now a full fledged thread is moved to the bin and no word is communicated to the thread creator.

Ramifications ?

Well i was at the receiving end of BSNL's laziness, but still was confident that my market section's FS thread was posted well in time and will be having some replies whenever i check in. But to my surprise the thread was nowhere to be found and had to wait a decent bit while a mod replied to the pm of mine, asking the details of the fate of the thread.

Personal grievances apart (stated just for the sake of example and bolster my request ofc), i would like to request the Admins/Mods to reactivate the PM notification policy for maintaining a channel of communication and maintaining transparency.

Yup.

Just happened to have found that thread a minute back.

But i certainly would like the notification system making a comeback for sure :)

That is the main thing i want the Admins/Mods to consider and hence the title as well.

it appears that automatic PM system is not working OR new moderators do not

have required privileges. deleting a thread / post requires just a couple of clicks

AND moving , PMing needs a good amount of time !!

There is no automatic PM system as of now.

I feel that there should be a visible trashcan. deleted threads / posts should

automatically move to it. later the moderator can add the reason - i.e. only

the staff has the posting / editing privileges and members can only view it.

the visible trashcan can be automatically pruned

i.e. threads older than a week / 10 days get deleted..

'Auto Notification via PM' system had been removed ages ago.

Primarily because of people replying/arguing even after politely requesting not to respond to notifications.

With so many more posts/threads trashed these days, it is sort of logical. So no plans to bring it back.

P.s.: Weren't you the one saying mods are too lenient in the market? :P

A visible trashcan won't help since sometimes content is deleted since its not suitable for viewing on the forums.

Also in case of market threads members may use it as a workaround to advertise their sale threads without following rules.

Yes i was the one and i am happy to see the steps which have been taken.
But the main issues still are staring in the face. But this is not the thread for those discussions.

Pray tell.. how that approach is going to help ?
No notification goes through and the thread creator goes through the labyrinth only to be getting the information which was duly supplied by the Auto Notification system.. Now how does that sound logical ?
Secondly, just because some noobish approach was taken up by few juveniles here, a perfectly fine system was taken off ?

There is an announcement right at the top of the market section, saying threads will be deleted if not compliant.

Few? Where did you get your stats from? 90% of people pick up a fight only because they receive a PM saying your post/thread has been deleted. These same people carried on in bliss when they did not receive a notification.

In any case, its only the Market people who are complaining, so I don't see the point.

U have one solution for this...
U can have the PM sent through a Common account Account in which PMs cannot be received at all (Or even simpler to just keep that accounts PM box Full)
But there should be some kind of Notification atleast (If not PM)

It takes us 2-3 days to figure out our thread was deleted...

Exactly what we proposed to the Admins as an option, but we did not get a response on it.

In any case, I see all complaints are for Market threads :P

If you get that smiley out for people who concentrate solely on the market section, then it seems justified.

But to be doing that when genuine concern is being voiced.. then it really looks absurd tbh.

Let me repeat - it is a genuine concern, only if it affects the tech section of the forum. Whether you're Safin or techboi has no bearing.

If anyone posting in the tech sections has faced such an issue, let us know and we will consider it.
