What is a Diffrence between Philips 5106k and LG DS 9533

As title it self very descriptive, can any one explain me what is a main difference between this two players.:huh:

Which one is best buy?

No offense but can u post a link of the philips model with its specifications... i cant seem to find them anywhere...
although some of the TE members do have that DVD player... hang around sm1 would tell u :)
 
chipset wise both the players have the same chipset i.e. the mediatek 1389 chipset so you should be fine going with either of the two players. LG after sales service is pathetic though..........

Do you mean Build Quality of Both Products is same?
Is cheapset is only criteria to Judge the quality of DVD Player?
On Techtree I read that LD DS9533 have Stronger Lens but they didn't compare it with any one?
LG cost Rs.3200/- While Phillips cost Rs.4600/-

=CrAzYG33K= you have same LG player does it support all formats same as Phillips 5106k. AS you used it from some time now do you recommend to Buy LG DS9533 now or shall I go with Phillips 5106k.

Bought the Philips DVD-player 6402K last year & within a year(within guarantee period) it got bad.gave it 2 philips service center for repair last month -to b precise July 1 '06 but till now,it has not benn tended too & has Not got repaired.Ask them for updates every week,but they simply speak out their same NOT done/repair s**t as parts r NOT available-they have ordered for the parts,but still not reached in their service center.Now it is close 2 abt the guarantee period for the DVD being over,& they r NOT done yet>Now waht can i do?? Any1 have a special Philips help line?

It is really a panic situation when we get such experience with Reputed Company. I also had problem with Intel for Mother Board. But I didn't stop using Intel and Buy New One as it is a good company with Fair Customer Service.

I google, yahoo and msn for your DVD 6402k but didn't find any info that can be understand by me, I think this model is really a OLD, in this case Philips should provide you another Re-furbished model or New one after deducting price of old one (just like Intel do with MOBO which are retired but have warranty left).

Hello There,

In Techtree review for DVP5100k/69 they said that the problem with this model is Ghosting effect.

Now can any one tell me that the same effect is continue with DVP5106k/97 or it is no more with this model as /97 denotes Firmware Updates (i think).

Another question, the Disk Inserting system is not like Tray, so is there any chance to enter Dust in Empty Space left for Disk Inserting?

As my House is on Busy Subway where whole day 1000's of Vehicles passing here and there?

Please advised so I can by DVP5106k/97 even my Dealer not Recommend same saying it is Nalla Product from Philips.
NOTE: Friends you will find similar Thread in other Subject Line, I beg your pardon, I post it here cause by Tomorrow I have to Buy this Player. Hope you will understand my situation.

chipset is definitely a important criteria for judging a divx/xvid player. Rest of the parameters come 2nd. Build quality wise the philips is good. i din't get you on the lens part though...... stronger lens ???

well..i bought d LG 9533 a month bk..
i preferred it over philips coz LG products are better built nd also have a better sales nd service network..
This player plays all d formats(except nero digital ofcorz;) )..no problems at all..
At d end its a personal choice..so go 2 d market nd check out both d players urself..
 
Now,since the Philips 5106K is pulled out from the market & possibly replaced by the NEW Model DVD DivX Player DVP3046/94 ,my question is Do any of the members here have it??? or are there any reviews to this Model???

**Plz do comment on this Model as I might be trying 2 get this piece 3046/94 instead of 5106K/97 in place of my un-repariable 6402K Divx DVD-payer which is still left unrepaired in the company Philips service center & if NOW,the Co decides to replace that by a New piece!

So,thinking if i do go for this model,will it be all OK,since the 5106K is taken out from the market,guarantee/parts availability in future will b once again a problem & More so,'coz models similar 2 DVP3046 r in the developed mkts of UK & USA! So what will the BEST for Me?

Read users experience with Philips 3046 here with techtree.

And thats why I prefer to go with LG DS 9533, inspite of bad experience with there products/service in past as Dealer say it is the Past of the Company but now LG is very quick to sort any problem with there products.

In last I can suggest you go for Branded products but buy from your Trusted and Reputed Dealer as they can force company to solve any problem with products in future.
 
^^ now,what alternative is Left for me in this given Limited options,if i have 2 accept a DVD-Divx player from Philips,if the Current Model DVP 3046 is of NO Good???

IMO.

Go for Philips 3046 and with some hassel you can do divx run or 5106k as at least 6 month you do not have to worry about service and as 5106k have Mediatek Chip you can tust as some of our members and mods already said that Mediatek chipset is one of the best.
 
^^THANKS Stick,but was REALLY expecting some other sources of reviews abt Philips DVP 3046 other than the tech-tree one!

Apart from the WORST Looks of the 3046,(IMO,my earlier 6042k DivX-DVD player has the BESt design,& the greatest irony is that-IT IS STILL SOLD IN THE USA)i would have preferred that model for as per specification,it is supposed 2 play divx 6.0 videos & with video upsampling upto 1080i for a more HD-ish picture for future,also in audio provides Dolby Pro-logic2,but NOt DTS!

Howevwer,as per tech-tree customer review,if the DivX compatibility is a MAJOR problem in that model,I am but all fearing 2 go for that model 3046.But I also on the other hand need 2 make the decision fast,coz the co(philips) may NOT just remain hanging on my decision making!

so realyy needed 2 think out my best options & any other reviews.I tried Googling but didnot find any god reviews on 3046 worth practical reference abt it!

So any other helpfrom the masters/tech-gurus of Optical drives@TE?
 
Ok,after months of haggling like a begger@ Philips Service center & ultimately threatening them of CC,they (Philips India) agreed 2 replace my set with a NEW one.......they initially offfered me the New model 3046...though i dithered(due 2 BAD review),but atlast went 2 accept it!
But lo,they now are making yet another execuse of NOT having enough of 3046 in Stock & Not being able 2 replace with a new 3046 DVD player.
Now,they are offering me 2 make a choice of any other model(for replacement) that's available currently in their Philips India stable!
Now all that points out 2 the two MP4 (DivX/Xvid playable) model Philps DVP 6042K Or Philips DVP 5106K(both of which r currently discontinued in production).They(Philips India) r saying that they can immediately replace my irrepariable 6042K(within warranty period) with the any of the above 2 sets!
Now,since i am having a bitter experoience with the 6042K dvd player which is not inb a state of repair even by the Philps ppl themselves,it ONLY leaves me with opting for the 5106K model

So,in breif,All,I'm asking for is,should i pick the Philps DVP 5106k standalone DVD-MP4 player in replacement of my unrepaired/irrepareiable 6042k though i know the 5106K/97 has been currently discontinued from Philps India & being updated with the newer model DVP 3046 (for which though i have some reservations after getting BAD review abt the model)

So,will it be all OK 2 go in for the DVP 5106K now, & particularly when Philips India r ready 2 make the replacement outrightly & Also I cannot make any more delay in this ever pending matter!

Now,Guys PLEASE Do HELP & advise me in this matter ASAP!
 
Go with 5106K ! No Worry at all !

Great Piece for Replacement to 6042K!

Philips Service is 100% better than LG ! As LG yet didn't reply my mail which I send them 20-25 days before before Buying LG DVD Player.

Hope I never requires there SERVICE :)
 
IMHO yes you should grab the 5106 k

i have 6402k for last 2 years and no problems

i also have at my cousin`s place 5106k for last one year with no problems.

there is known problem of disc loading mechanism in it. but the better chipset is much better reason to chose it.

i really do not have knowledge about the newer model and their chipset but you should not missout on 5106 IMO.
