I want to buy an internal hard disk and use it as an external one, because of the massive price difference. However I want to know is there any way of making it not look so ugly ? The sata casing people often mention do exactly that or what ? Do I still need an external power source ?

If you buy a 3.5" Drive , you will need a power supply . 2.5" drives dont need one . Although i dont see a massive price difference , for example WD 1 TB Internal is 3600 and 1 TB external is 4400 (both 3.5") , any good quality case should cost atleast as much as this difference .

There is a difference when I buy something like the 120 gb bro.Which is what I intend to buy. There are a couple of cheap casings on Ebay, about 300 bucks..What i wana know is how do these work ?

the usage is u put the hard drive in the casing, and use it externally. u may have a dozen hard drives, but a single casing, just put the hdd u need at the moment in the casing, that s it.

external 3.5" hd that u get is nothing but a internal hd with a company fitted sata case...but the case is more reliable and the difference if u want to assemble it is not that much....and yes u need a external power adapter for both of them

secondly if u want storage of just about 120gb then go with 2.5" one's these wont need external power adaptor these can be used just as pendrive's...

I purchased one recently, the maker is TAG, for Rs. 550/-. It's decent and as everyone says, it requires external power source.

Ok I have the external casing but the power supply got spoilt. SO i need a new Power Cord. Is there anywhere in MUmbai I can get the cord and it will be cheap enough?
