What is Form 60?

I read on the Internet that Form 60 is for those who do not have a PAN Card.

My grandmother has a PAN Card and has submitted Form 80 (I for got the form no.) mentioning the fixed deposits and interest earned by her. Her PAN card number was mentioned in that form.

When she tried to move money out of her Canara Bank account via cheque, the bank handed her a Form 60.

(Form 80 has been deposited at all banks where she has a deposit)

yeah, afaik its for kids or people who do not have PAN. Usually bank requires PAN card when amount involved is more than 50K. Did you try giving her PAN number to bank?

Its a declaration that the person does not hold PAN. This is required at places where PAN submission is compulsory but that person does not have any PAN.

Her PAN card had already been submitted to the bank at her home branch.
The branch where her cheque was being encashed was a different branch of the same bank.
