I am really curious to know wat are nickels and wat is their role and also the green line under it

Nickels are earned when you post, start a new threa,d get reps, etc.... You can use them in the betting zone. And I guess the admins will find another way for you to spend them in their next upgarde of TE.

And abt the green bars, they are REPUTATION POINTS. If someone likes what you have posted, they can rep you. You can check the rep points by going to your USER CONTROL PANEL. or USER CP.

So, it means, dipdude has got more number of reputation points than you. You can earn reps by posting useful reviews, news items, etc and if the other TE members like it, they will rep you.

About nickels there are many ways you can earn them like posting, making new threads, by reviews, guides etc. Nickels can also be earned by gaining reputation i.e. when someone reps you.

The green line is the Reputation, it can only be gained when someone reps you.

Hi all,

What is the significance of Nickels in the rep. scenario. I'm asking this specifically as I see Wraith's rep meter as well as nickel meter & on the nickel standards he's pretty low. So what happened in Wriath's case with the nickels. Any suggestions anybody?
 
Ther is no relation of Nickels with the Reputation However there is a Relation b/w Nickels and posts ! For every Post u make u get a 0.50 Nickel ! Then when u make threads and it gets many replies , u get more Nickels ! Then there is also a betting zone in which instaed of money u can bet ur Nickels so maybe wraith had lost all his Nickels while Betting ! For Example look at Udit's Nickels ! He has some 1000 posts and more then 10000 nickels courtesy Betting ! Also for every Reffral u get 50 Nickels !
 
If you loose Nickels you wont loose your reps. But am not sure abt the later, let some other staff clear the doubt:)
 
While I'm waiting for that what is the significance of Nickels by themselves? Is it just something for fun or what? AFA Reps. are concerned one is able to know how serious to take somebody's advice based on the rep. Or atleast that's the idea. Don't understand the nickels issues... much yet.

So all in all it boils down to 2 things, Rep. can be seen & as thought before just makes somebody's post somewhat better. Nickels AFA right now is concerned is just there & doesn't have any fruitful purpose. At some point when TE does have an inventory it might become useful. Repping u dipdude

Another query how does the betting work? Can one bet let's say X amount of the Nickels there or one has to bet fully. Thanx in advance.
 
@spacescreamer, you start off with dull green but as you keep gaining reputation points you would cross various levels & you would eventually start gaining the bright green reps. @shirish, yes you can bet any amount from the no of nickels you have - there is no minimum & the maximum ofcourse would be the nickels you own.
 
Another thing when one is repping somebody, does one's rep. points or nickels get reduced or not?

Also was unable to find the Betting zone, is there one or not, while browsing also came to know that there was some kind of mischief played sometime back. Didn't really get the details. Anybody knows what happened?
 
Another thing, when one is repping somebody then he's repped by 1 point or is there a way to increase the no. of points or what? Although the figureshows the difference but a better one would've also showed the no. of pips :)

I find the whole thing pretty fascinating. Another point somebody did raise sometime back but wasn't really answered what's the difference between the slightly faded green pips & the newer brighter pips. For e.g. dipdude has 5 faded pips & 6 sharper/brighter pips. Now is this for indicating recent & past or does it have some other meaning. Thanx in advance.
