MTNL seems nice with its unlimited plan except it keeps disconnecting at random,i NEVER had such issues with airtel and the only reason i switched to MTNL was because of their FUP.

So is there any other broadband in new delhi which is as reliable as Airtel? and i really don't want to go for reliance because their customer support is worse than anything so if anything goes awry i'm sure i'll be stuck for months and they'll just keep parroting "Sorry for the inconvenience we'l'l get back at you ASAP".

There is some setting like ADSL or G.dmt in. Modem. Change to G. Dmt from adsl+ for a stable connection. Earlier I had the same problem.

Stick to MTNL, try to change entire inhouse cabling, let line come to modem thru splitter directly and then go to house for any parallel phone, try an alternate modem if you have like Bharti, siemens, binatone or dlink. If sill n help, may be issue from DSLAM so meet directly GM Broadband at Khurshid Bhavan in CP and tell the issue.

Spectranet has a Fiber service called FOX which seems to be decently priced. The speeds are not sky high yet with 16mbps asymmetric. When I had a Spectranet connection in Gurgaon, I was quite satisfied with their service. The downtime was barely a couple hours a month and their customer service was above average. http://www.spectranet.in/fox.php

I am currently using Airtel though since FOX isn't available in my area.

Check out Nextra (note the be confused with the Bharti data center operations). Am paying Rs. 1399 for a 10 Mbps 1:1 FTH connection. Am quite happy with their services.

I wish Nextra was available here. The stupid thing is available less than a km from where I live but not where I live.
