So I've purchased 2 drives for copying data over on a shoot.
1 2tb WD Elements (Portable)
1 4tb WD My Book
What is the best way of checking the drives properly before taking them on a shoot? I've read that secure erase is a good way to check all the sectors are fine. Any other methods or tips? Also, will securely erasing them decrease their performance by any chance. I know the chances of this are low but I need to check these drives thoroughly before copying over the footage.
TIA
