Storage Solutions What is the correct way to hot-swap sata hdd's?

I have a MSI K8NGM2 FID mobo and i am using seagate SATA I and SATA II drives with it...

and i have been using the hot swap function also...but sometimes 2 of the drives dont get detectedd while being hot-swapped but when attached after normal shut down work fine...

i always attach the power cable first and then the the data cable....is this the right way??
and while removing...the data cable first and then the power cable...

i too do the same....but so far no probs...but sometimes i get some kinds beep noise...n the system becomes too slow...then i see controller error messages in the event viewer...so i'm also looking for answers u see...i guess there might be a few more like us....
