What is XBMC MEDIA CENTER ?

If you have a PC use KMPlayer/VLC for video playback and Winamp/Foobar for Audio.

Whats the need of a media center i still dont understand.

MediaCenter are eyecandy stuff

HAve any of the folks faced issue with XBMC?

It keeps on taking 40-50% CPU without any reason when idle. It seems to be a known issue and afaik there are no fix. That Vertical sync also doesn't help. How about guys who are using it?

I don't use it regularly but its pretty good.. VLC doesn't have that much feature and fails to play rm files and bunch of other atleast in Linux..

Didn't monitor the CPU usage but yeah its pretty heavy .. The interface makes its more system hog and eat atleast 700mb of ram :pP
 
I too haven't monitored cpu usage, will check and confirm.

I am loving the xbmc remote application for iphone, almost do the same function as apple remote app with itunes.

I think that he's trying to say that if you don't have a HTPC setup, there is really no need to use a media center. Partly true because it does take a lot of time and effort to properly customize XBMC..
 
If you are a newbie go to XBOX SCENE to get more info. They are very helpfull and have easy to follow tutorials on how to manage your xbox.
