Hi Guys

I just wanted a software to keep a track of my Videos , Mp3s , Pictures etc.

So came across 2 good HTPC Softwares.

1.> XBMC - which impressed me a lot has loads of features

Link: XBMC Media Center

2.> Media Portal - highly configurable

Link: MEDIAPORTAL - free media center - Home

I am yet to explore both to its max potential.

Wanted to know what softwares u guyz use.

Huge List Of Softwares

1.> Media center - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

2.> http://eirikso.com/2005/10/25/the-media-center-software-list/

i havent used this yet, but Boxee is an expansion of the XBMC. Ive seen videos of it in action and one of the founders talking about future additions to the project and it seems rather interesting (even if its a little american-centric). Unfortunately its still in closed alpha so you'll need an invite for it, or get in line for one. Also they have only released clients for OSX and Linux. Windows should be coming by the end of the year.

boxee: the open, connected, social media center for mac os x and linux

IMO XBMC is just superb. Am planning to do a short preview of the software ( after my exams though :( ).

I tried MeediOS also but the fact that it lacked support for OpenGL made me switch. But music options aren't that great. Movies and TV shows on the other hand are just fantastic.

Running on Vista SP1, it's really smooth. Has crashed on me a couple of times but that maybe because I was using the beta version. Now the stable release is out, going to try it extensively.

Give it a shot, you won't regret it. :D

MeediOS , looks kinda cool

But which version to download.

I need a one click install , dont want to download any extra stuff later.

i use the pinnacle software that came with the card. not sure if the remote supports anything else

Oops looked like I was talking about MeediOS :P. After trying out MeediOS I switched to XBMC. I've highlighted it again. I was talking about XBMC all the time :D Try out the Atlantis version. It's damn cool. Way better than the default that comes with Vista.
