Ah, good ol' nostalgia. Your post reminds me the time circa 2009 when the market was flooded with netbooks. This was before the launch of the iPad 1st Gen in 2010, which was responsible for effectively killing the netbook market. Sadly, the Asus Eeebook was one of them.
These netbooks were really great during that time, since they were light, portable, and can do basic tasks on the go. They usually came with 2GB RAM which was more than enough for running Windows XP/7. Also, their price was stellar, as most of them hovered around the 20K INR range.
During that time, usual laptops used to cost over 40-50K INR, so the netbooks were a welcome change. And some netbooks (such as the MSI Wind) could even run Mac OS X Leopard/Snow Leopard. So, they were definitely a value for money proposition.
