Nice to see so many people appreciating this video- TDF and TE members combined. I sincerely hope that this will make the tdf members to think of changing their way of posting in forums changes for mutual benefit, atleast as far as TE goes.

I made some minor changes (especially the font size) and minor corrections. I will be putting them up soon once they are done with uploading on the first post itself.

ROFLCOPTER...... so much that dad came to room... tell me the joke... haven't laughed that hard.. Well I also shifted from TDF to TE sometime back just becoz I could not take the overdose of noobs at TDF. Hope this place remains clean... we should have more sweepers now not admins sweepers. :bleh:

"Don't worry, you are a girl as long as you say so online "

jaaaaaaaaaaataaaaaaaaaaaaaaa sorcy

Whew! I'm safe. Nobody knew me there and nobody knows me there. No mention in the video either. I've successfully maintained my cover ! As for native TEians, folks TDF is in bad shape not because we were there but because we have come over here. As for u guys feeling that TE might be invaded by noobs, lemme ask u this, how many of u guys were "Pro" b4 joining an online forum? We all are here in a common pursuit to alleviate ourselves by elevating our knowledge so please don't be a noobh8r.

Version 3 (and most probably the last) is being put up. Minor changes being made and also an extra line after 1.24 minutes.

@ Ryunosuke: We all started as n00bs, but..

# do we need to be a pro for stop using redundant punctuation marks and sms lingos all the time despite having an access to qwerty boards?

# Do we need to be pros to learn to lurk around and gather knowledge first?

# Do we need to be pros to follow basic forum etiquette and not use the forums, a tech forum, as a chat room?

----

Again, native TE people have decreased posting in the forums because of such approach towards this forum and TDF members are bringing the same baggage and mentality that they had in those forums. If this continues, TE will not be the same good ol' forums where had fun and we learnt so much that we would probably never that much in other Indian tech communities.

When you move to a new country, you will have to blend in with the locals, right? Being in another forum is not that dramatic, but the funda is the same. I know TDF forums has being crapped beyond recognition for a long time and its hard for former TDF members to change their approach to a forum that fast, its not an overnight attempt- but atleast make an attempt everytime you post, is it really that hard? If people are going to do the same thing on TE what they did on TDF, what's the point in coming in TE?

Attempting to be humans instead of chimps. That part has been removed from their brains.

#For SMS lingo, even the Digit magazine guys posted an elaborate article this time to educate the viewers and users from future use of such dialects. One can only educate them by giving them a taste of their own medicine here. Needlessly and incessantly calling someone "noob" isn't going to improve the situation. Stereotyping doesn't helps.
# For this I can't argue either with you :cool2: or with the inebriate individual who pays no heed to the rules.
# This "chat-room" behavior can only be curbed by iron hand in velvet glove approach by Mods and Admins or the only way I earlier saw fit and do recommend again is the incorporation of a ShoutBox. I suggested this at TDF too but none paid attention to it. Guys of TE have successfully implemented at Funenclave so what's stopping them doing the same here?
Those who are migrating here from TDF are not the ones who made it complete disaster at it is today. The ones who are responsible are still there, happy there as for them "Ignorance is a bliss". Guys like Harryneopotter, desiibond,anubis,quan-chi, we all have always adhered to forum rules and never questioned Mods and Admins decision. If any one of us has ever been at any fault, we have rectified it and amended it to prevent future mishaps. Hell I was issued infraction for using Hindi just once here in one of my post and after that I never questioned this MNS mentality of the Admin because we have been taught to respect all those who are above us, in age, in experience, in position.
Telling a person to be like the natives is persecution. I'm not saying that we want to turn TE into South Hall of UK but we won't put on Bowlers and Derbies either just to fit in.
I applaud you for your efforts to make such a video and forewarn people joining about unfair practices but what has to be done solely lies with oneself and with the Mods. Either they should get in line or the Mods can always put them in line. We can't go Prodigy on their arse, "Invaders must die"

:judge:

Rest assured we are here to clamp down on chitchat in tech sections. Just report the posts.

While nobody likes one on one talk in a thread, it is hard to eliminate in non-tech sections. Still if you feel someone is engaging in a one on one chat in a thread which is not useful to anyone else, just report.

:clapping: Holds true for any situation.

Regardless, an awesome video indeed. :p
