Did you make it through the mayhem, and get this device?
Now the question what should I do next after getting the device, probably before making it your primary one. There are lots of people drawing up negative conclusions before even searching and finding answers, I have tried to compile what one must do initially!
Remove the tracing plastic/ screen protector that has been applied by the manufacturer. Apply your own if you need it so, MI3 is CG3, as claimed by the manufacturer on FB. This scratch guard causes a hindrance for the proximity sensor. If you call someone the screen goes blank, so first things first.
MI3 uses a Standard Sim or also called Mini Sim, so if you dont have one, you need to buy an adapter. Use the pin provided in the package to get it opened. Initially its quiet hard, Please do not try to bend the pin insertion, make sure you apply an equal force. It will come out. Do not insert back the sim tray just putting another sim adapter, please make sure you put the sim in it too! Failing to do so might get the sim tray jammed.
Now switch on your phone and let it boot up and choose your language, location sharing, mail setup blah.. blah .. blah..
To do that goto Tools> Updater> Check for Updates; Update during early mornings are faster, just my opinion! As of the time of writing this, the update available is version 22(V22), I would not suggest you to update to it, cos a lot of bugs are been reported or wait for the August 16 update. If your lucky you can get version 18 (Stable for India) which is more than good enough.

The problem with the hissing/some kind of background sound in recording a video seems to be a major bug, record a video on your device and play it back and see if the problem is there. Even after applying the V22 update the problem is there!

Some users have got version 15/16 and not able to update as of yet, by using the Check for Updates method.
For those who are desperate can try the FlashBoot Method for V18.

If you wish to update at this point, its your personal choice.To do that goto Tools> Updater> Check for Updates; Update during early mornings are faster, just my opinion! Try taking a video with the camera, say a 10second video; play it back and listen if there is any humming noise in it, many users have reported the same; and V22 seems to have fixed it.
Try making calls, listening to music, playing a couple of videos and stuff, browsing; if all is fine you can keep the device, else you have to return or take it to the service center.
