Hi all.. im going off for a vacation to far east... me thinking to get some eletronics and some Pc accesories. Can ya guys recommned me where all to go to shop for these Stuff . Last time when i went to singapore i weent to sim lim square... any other place aprt from it.. where i can get good deals.. and what all things i can get it cheaper out there.. I don't want to hijack this thread. I am also going for 9 days vacation to Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand.
Can you tell me few things.
1. Can I get sim card there to call my relatives in India?
2. I am planning to carry US $500. Should I take it locally in pune or on airport ?
3. What else care should I take?

A word of caution with whatever stuff you may end up getting from abroad - warranty! If it doesn't have international warranty and screws up after you get here, you are done for unless you find someone who's headed there later on.
Some of them will let you ship the product to their company directly for replacements though. For eg - G.Skill, Corsair etc.

be warned that buy only from big chain stores like Broadway and Fortress, lots of hustlers out there to get ur money...u can bargain but only a little. Do check for international warranty as suggested.

HDFC card will. But conversion from INR to USD to SGD would be insane. I suggest carrying Indian currency of Rs 500 or 1000 to get best exchange rates. They are easily acceptable in Malaysia and Singapore. Dont try in thailand.
Most of the stores at Sim Lim square (computer Mkt) in Singapore have price list online. You can look for a suitable deal. CM cooler V8 is priced at 83 SGD as compared to Rs 5K locally. But others parts are approx the same as in India.
Bangkok was not good for shopping Electronics. Good for only Masti and cheap clothes. But if you want to buy something like LCD Tv you can try a shop owned by --Suresh Ph 08181781 or 022240985. He shall deliver at the airport at some extra charge. Got his reference form Airline crew. But did not try him since I dropped the plan to buy a LCD in the last minute. Samsung 32" was for 22K instead of 30K in India at the time. But since my house is under construction, I had no place to install.
