All OS What Uncommon App you use and what's your use case?

So I have opened this thread to understand what relatively uncommon app that you use on your mobile or tablet that is useful for you or improves your QoL or enhances productivity or may be you just like it.

When I say uncommon, I mean exclude all the widely used apps like Instagram, fb, WhatsApp, Facebook etc and all stock apps from the big corporations like meta, Google, Apple etc.

Would love to know your use case too if why you need the app and what value you derive.

I will start...

Using iOS and I am very much dependent on my reminders (stock iOS) for keeping stock of what I have to do and it has all my future reminders too and yearly ones and all. But the reminders app is not my uncommon app.
My uncommon app is "Remind Faster" (its like an alternate front-end for iOS reminders).
This app has simple interface and natural language processing (bought as IAP for ₹99) to quickly set reminders as iOS's own app takes time and it's natural language processing isn't great or is non existent.

I use this app called Koguma to edit metadata of my comic and East-Asian comics (Mangas) before I add them to my e-library. I usually sail the seas for getting uncompressed rips because official subscription apps suck hard, so I have to usually rename and fix their metadata to their proper format. It's like a little hobby I enjoy doing similar to how you would fix entries and tag your books in a physcial library.

I use an app called Digital Detox, and it's honestly been a game-changer for me when it comes to productivity. The app helps me lock myself out of my phone (or specific apps) for a set amount of time, so I can focus completely on deep work, studying, or reading without getting distracted by social media or notifications.
 
If I have to pick one that's not mainstream and a game changer, it has to be KDE Connect. Basically connects multiple devices together but since its hard to explain, I will just share the settings screenshot. I have my mobile connected to my PC, server and laptop. Mostly for running commands from mobile, transfer files, share clipboard and remotely control my PC as I am lying in bed watching videos.

If you're a Formula 1 fan, check out Rawe Ceek. Simple and nicely designed app that just shows race timings based on your location and tracks driver and constructor championship points. That's all it does, and it does it reliably.

Honourable mentions: BubbleUPnP to transcode video streams when casting to Chromecast, and Tody to keep track of chores in the household.
 
LocalSend- Probably the best app to share files cross platform
phyphox- lets you see all the sensor data in your phone(in a really cool way)
NetGuard- control network activity, block internet access for specific apps
Shizuku- adb without pc
Geminiman WearOS- Lets you sideload apps to wearOS easily, also other features related to wearOS like app backup.
AirGuard- See airtag trackers nearby
CAPod- Allows you to see detailed AirPods battery level.(left, right and case)
Island- for isolating apps in a sandboxed “work” profile
Suntimes- see sunlight and moonlight times, also has alarms
KOReader-ebook reader
Click to chat- allows you to start a whatsapp chat with a number without saving it as a contact first.
F-droid- find and download FOSS apps, you'll find all the uncommon apps in the world over there(use Droid-ify, Obtainium, or whatever floats your boat)
Most of these apps are available from play store, some are through F-droid
 
I use Hail with Shizuku, to suspend/force stop apps that I don't want to run in background. Hail stops them all in once automatically.
I just excluded apps like WhatsApp, anything else mostly forced stop. Saves battery, and less distraction.

Hail is not available on Play store, get it from F-Droid store, and you will need Shizuku from play store to give Hail the super power it needs.
 
I use the paid version of Solid Explorer on all my android phones for this nifty feature.

It allows the phone to be converted into a FTP server. I can connect to the phone's addon microSD card from my desktop and laptop on my internal network when both the phone and the PC/laptop is connected to the same WiFi network. I use total commander to connect to the phone and it allows me to move/copy files to and fro from the PC/laptop to the phone.

Once you install the free version of Solid Explorer it allows you to upgrade to the paid variant for a 50% discount if done so within the trial period.

No need to connect data cables and things happen on the fly. You can set up a password for access if needed. I haven't set one as I am the only user at home who has access to the internet.

I am a serial app tester, keep downloading and removing them just to test the functionality, design etc..

Some relatively lesser know apps on IOS:
  • Documents by Readdle: its a file manager which comes with a lot of other functionalities,...i only use it to access photos/files on my PC and do quick transfers. Can connect with a simple code on same network.
  • Demus: Youtube music without any ads
  • Pretub: Youtube without ads
  • Listy: Create diff lists
  • Atten: Time blocker and digital detox
  • Showly: Tv show tracker
  • Endel: Focus music, quite popular actually
  • Tachimanga: Free manga reader (haven't used this one yet but tested and it works well)
