I need prices for 360 for both modded and non modded premium versions... Also whats the current running price for the PS3... Also i hope its a good idea to choose a 360 over the PS3... I already have a 26" LCD to hook it up with... My Logitech Z 5300 will accompany the Display... Suggest me anything which i am missing else apart from a decent couch :P

Modded Premium X360 from Grey Market (Extremely important to ensure after-sales repair) = 21k

Premium Original X360 = 27K

Core Original X360 = ?

In Grey, I've only seen Ps3 from Japan. They are running for 27K as well (don't know if its 20 or 60 gigger), its better to wait for prices of the PAL version as India comes under PAL region, and its releasing in 27 march. It won't be any less than 30K, that's almost a guarantee.

Perhaps somebody else can tell what the price of American NTSC Ps3's if available in India. Good thing Ps3's a region free, you can run Ps3 games on it bought from anywhere in the world but not the same for Ps2 Backwards Compability - That is still region locked.

Also i hope its a good idea to choose a 360 over the PS3.

only time can answer that question. Ps3 will be the better one IMO, simply because it'll have the games over from Ps2 (like God Of War 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4 and the Cell Chip is beginning to show some real promise) plus its a steal if you will consider Blu-Ray when it comes to India. But X360 has been getting its good share of tons of awesome exclusives. Guess you'll be happy with the either one. Look up the library of both the consoles and upcoming titles it'll make your work easier. On forums you're only going to get *cough* biased opinions most of the time :P

I suggest you wait just a lil' while longer (like a month, or two at max) if you want to decide who's the better one between X360 and Ps3.

In December and all through January(Christmas offer), MS brought the core's price down to 19,990K or something like that. Not sure if it's reverted back to it's normal price of 21K or not.

As for choice, there should be none. The x360 is the only console to own simply because it officially launched here. It has a decent and stable price as does it's games. Availabilty and support for this thing is unlike any other gaming system so far. It simply amazes me how quickly x360 games make it here after launching in the US.

Screw the PS3 and Screw the X360. Get a Wiiiiiii :D. Should be around 18k... will let you know updated prices on Sunday... Im hittin Palika then.

Getting a Wii would be about the worst choice you could ever make precisely for the reasons that I lauded that X360. Even if the PS3 never officialy launches here, there will will still be consoles and games everywhere you go but there is no guarantee that the Wii will get the same treatment.

No point going in for a Wii... I quit drinking a while ago

Funny you would mention that. A lot of people across boards claim they're better at Wii games when drunk.

And that is exactly why what Switch said makes sense :P I guess we've someone here who's posting-drunk..:ohyeah:

@Switch: 360 Premium - 25.7K at Computer Empire (Price as on somewhere around 20th of Feb)

Even I am in the same dilemma, PS3 or xbox. am more inclined towards the PS3, true 1080P support, Grand Turrismo HD, F1 being a few reasons and another being the boot loader which is supposedly coming out sometime mid march.

Although even Xbox would be a good choice but I hate the fact that it has no HDMI and no native 1080P support, the 360 code named Zephyr that gonna come out later this year will have both of that as well as a 40nm proccy chip, so deciding what wiser, to buy 360 now or wait for the next rev

^Sounds like you've already made up your mind on getting a PS3 as you haven't mentioned what it is that interests you about the x360. Also, you're qualms with the x360 seem very trite to me. Why you even framed your post as a dilemma makes little sense.

Get the premium modded x360 for 20-21k switch. The ps3 will make a better investment late 2007 or early 2008 depending on how prices fall for both Bluray and the console. Gears of war, dead rising, fnr3, and other titles will keep you busy till then.

the reason for the dilema is the limited number of titles available currently, lack of rumble

where as in xbox 360, its already modded, has a huge games available, good online game play and ofcource halo 3

the only reason am not buying or well not yet decided on buying it is coz am annoyed @ MS for not having HDMI in the current version even though am sure they could have and the lack of 1080P support, most ikely i wont be using it but still...

I suppose that's a valid reason. I think you will have to wait a while longer for further developments in the X360 Zephyr and PS3's additon of rumble before you make a decision.

Just a couple of points worth noting.

1 Like Nish says PS3 will probably have rumble in thier gamepads before this year runs out. They just made a deal with immersion. Most people expect them to announce this at the up coming GDC.

2 The xbox 360 does infact support 1080p display. The november update from the last year added that specific feature. Here is the link - Xbox.com | Xbox News - November 2006 Update Features List

One last thing, the Zephyr deal. MS are supposed to have a new Xbox 360 model in development with a 120 GB HD and HDMI. They have of course officialy denied this but most people expect a revised model to be launched later this year.

Still in answer to the eternal question of Xbox or PS3. I would say go for a 360 now. The library of titles for it makes this a no contest.

You are wrong the PS3 CAN'T PLAY PS3 GAMES AND BD DISCS REGION FREELY(3 REGIONS) But it can play PS2 AND PSOne games region freely.

Its the other way around. For Bluray Games - Ps3 is totally region free. For Bluray movies, it has 3 Zones (region locked)

For Ps2 DVD games, it has 3 Zones (region locked) and there are about 10-20 zones for DVD Movies.

And calm down! Posting in CAPS really doesn't do much.
