What's the stand on Sport Betting in India?

A friend of mine, wants to invest a bit of his money on football betting, he was looking at the euros. So guys, what's the situation on it in India? Local and online on sites like bet365... please let me know guys!

Sports betting is legal in Europe, but its not legal in India. I am not sure how your friend can directly bet in Euros and get back his winnings in INR unless he does it through a proxy (A friend/acquaintance in Europe). Most regularized betting/gambling companies do not even directly allow customers from markets where the same is illegal.
 
Can be done, if you have friends in Europe, also I think some of my friends bet directly from India too. Will have to check.
 
^^ The way they do it may not be completely legitimate. As I said, most of the reputed and legitimate players in the field do not allow their services outside the target markets.
 
It is completely illegal as of now.Bet365,paddy power etc will not accept your bets since you are from a country where it is illegal.

The only betting which goes on around here is with bookies from clubs who pool illegal cash from college funkies and make it a regular thing.Mostly the ipl and epl.
 
So, not a viable option?And #Jasku , please ask your friend if you can

Betting is illegal in India, however if you cant pull your inside horse.

For every IPL match they match total bettings of approx 2-2.5 crore $$, i think most of the money is pulled from India only
