Whats this wifi adapter stuff??

Well when i was buying my new hdd.....came across some netgear usb wifi adapter(looking same as usb dongle)...was in doubt but what i understood just like the bluetooth dongle this device when connected to pc it becomes available on wifi network....Does this mean we can use this and dont need the router at all to make net available on both pc and lappy with pc net connection???

Let me make this very simple for you:

1. It's not a router or access point, but a wifi adaptor that allows your PC to connect to a Router / Access point.

2. You laptop can't connect to your PC through this thing without a WIFI router/Access point, hence no network sharing.

3. For above 2, you need special radio that is not there in the usb dongle.

of course you can, through aN ad-hoc network

but then that is not what magnet had in mind :p
