Hi Guys

Whats WinLIRC and uICE , saw it in Mplayer Classic's Options Screen

EDIT:

Googled and found this

WinLIRC allows you to transmit and receive standard infrared remote control signals. This allows you to control your computer using almost any standard infrared remote control. It also allows your computer to control other equipment which uses these signals (stereo equipment).

winlirc is used to control programs from an IR sensor and any remote. you can, after properly training the winlirc program to recognize the input, map the remote commands to various commands in mplayerc(or a bunch of other apps)

i got it working with my pinnacle PCTV IR sensor, but can work with a cheap DIY sensor you can solder together and costs less than 100 bucks. me planning to make one just for the heck of it :D

the reverse( using PC to control other stereo eqpt) is also possible, but it needs more complex stuff

If u r making one can u share some images of the exact stuff u purchased and pic of the final assembled sensor.

Also i dont have a remote control what to use as a remote , sensor is fine.

the schematic.. the parts are pretty standard

you'll need 4.7uF capacitor, 7805(78L05 prefferred) ,4.7k resistor, 1N4148 diode,serial port, stripboard, wires

assembled... not mine though(I havent built mine yet, and will post a guide after :) )

about the remote... any original remote will do ( except for Pinnacle PCTV remote, i think its word length is too long, also i dont know if the cheap replacement remotes work)
