What's with that name?
"He calls himself The Rock, must be attitude;trying to show Banda... Whats with that name; Who the hell gave him that name; Is he a big fan of The Rock; Must be Wrestling buff or something;" these were some of the thoughts when they see my mails or my writings in this name and I bet they still are. Then what is it in this name?
It was those nostalgic days,back in high school, when all my friends were fans of WWF and used to call ourselves by wrestler's names; trying to imitate them. I was called The Rock by my friends just for me being his ardent fan. But then that name became my nickname,an alias and then some people call me by that name now. That name stayed by me. It creates an aura around me. The name forces me to methoprise myself into that name, i.e , be like a rock, be strong like a rock(not the wrestler this time but literally like a rock).
Some names are just shorties for their long ones. Those are harmless. But when comes to ones personifying character, there is a catch. Keep calling them by that name and u will see them blush the first time, take it seriously the next time and then become that name. Isn't that kinda intersting?
This name keeps me going. It reminds me of my responsibilitites. I made it as a handle to my personal characteristic. Not many people know this but that is the science behind having a nick name. Mostly nick names are used for derogatory purposes but I believe these synonyms can also have a useful purpose. Name anyone by something positive or something that they wants to become, keep calling them by that name and it gets registered in their subconscious mind and each time u call them, it will give them a tingling feeling, a pinch of responsibility, until they gets used to it.
