1000 is a lot, I want something special for 200 posts :P

With this post you see, it actually does attract spam.
 
I guess this custom member titles need a hack for this vB, which i guess it's not easy. Most of the vB forums don't carry this, unless the members are given special ranks. Even supernova has said about this issue.

With IPB, by default we get to have member's custom title :)
 
what I'm posting now is not official but still u guys shud give it a thought..
do u seriously think 1000 posts is an achievement tat deserves custom title??
honestly, i think NO coz making 1000 posts is really no big deal..
guys and gals, we are very new as u all know..think abt 3-4 months from now..
each one of u mite have 3000 or 5000+ posts..then wat?
i think custom user title shud be awarded for really something special.
as i said, we are still discussing possibilities among staff members...we'll
keep you updated whenever any progress is made in this regard. :)
 
I want root access when I reach 1000 posts.
This incentive for ppl with higher post count does attract spam, I dont see a point having such systems, rather make it time based, for ppl who are 3 months old, then ppl who are 6 months old etc etc, doesnt matter if they 1k posts or 100 posts, that doesnt attract spam :)
 
how about we rest postcount to 0 when u reach 1000 posts?

be patient and dont spam :P
 
Well as you wish do keep us updated on what you finalize on.
I will be happy to agree on whatever decision you make.

Some special thing after 1000 will attract spam for sure.

i make 2 posts per day..how can you accuse me of spamming :P..lol 200 posts in 3 months. I shud get the "least spam" title.:ohyeah:

Back to topic .. i like the time based idea.
 
Well quantity of posts is no basis for distinction.The current reputation system is good enough.Ensures that those with the best quality have the greatest reputation and chronic flamers like me have lesser points.LOL.
 
its better to think for somthing, which does not tempt others to spam..but also, acts as gift to loyal members...
glad to accept u staff decide.. :)
anything was better than "overloaded member" title.. ;) remembers me of somethign else..:P
 
you will get something very shortly. But the point is that who will get what will not be decided on post counts whasoever. They are good as far as showing how active you are on forums but apart from that post counts will not have any meaning in deciding anything else.

Does it really matter?
Not to me atleast.
People know how good you are and you do get recognised if you are doing good work and contributing in making the community better.
I gave 2 years and more than 5K posts on guru3d. And in that period the best thing that happend to me is the backing of soo many members and mods when 1 dude went on flaming spree against me due to personal reasons.
Now I am a game reviewer there.
I am taking a break for a while as i cannot sit playing games when my exams are going on and its not possible to remain active on 2 forums at a time in exam season.
My next review should be up by next week end or the week after that or so as my last exam is tomorrow.( damn easy exam paper tomorrow by the way :D )
