I am selling my iphone which is still in the box and I've been led to believe that the warranty of it will begin the moment it is connected to itunes. SinceI've sold mine I would just like to recheck if that is indeed the case as I would like to prevent any miscommunications from my side to the prospective buyer.

@metalspree did you activate the phone on the day of the purchase? That may be the reason. Anyway I checked the link. However, it told me the phone isn't activated yet so can not ascertain the warranty period of it. Also I won the phone , this is getting complicated now.

The warranty starts from the date of sale . The warranty shown on Apple's site is usually close to your purchase date as all these phones come with a buffer warranty period . Incase the online or Apple database is showing less warranty then you can get it changed by submitting a proof of purchase to Apple :).

Problem is, for many resellers in India (who are not Apple authorised sellers), the purchase date will be the day your local seller bought it.

As long as you have vat paid bill, your warranty is effective from the date mentioned on the receipt. Be it authorized reseller our local reseller. (as long as the piece is from local.distribution channel and not imported)

Otherwise it will be from the day in Apple's database.

When i purchased an ipod touch i was told the warranty starts when you first connect it with itunes . I connected it with itunes the day i purchased it :) your serial number gets activated . When my shuffle needed a rma the apple guys didnt require any reciept , they just connected it saw how much warranty is remaining . I have no idea of iphone though . You can even check how much warranty remains for your device online at their site .

AFAIK, the warranty is from the date of purchase in your receipt. Because I bought the iPod from best buy and their rep has told me that. This applies to iPad and iPhone.

i just got an ipad 3g for a friend .Even though i received it today the warranty started on 27th August . AFAIK its the day of purchase + 1 or 2 days buffer time

Just enter the serial no, on the apple support page and it will tell you the remaining days. For my phones and ipad its same as the day i purchased but i again i had activated them also on the same day.
