Waiting for 4090 prices to drop to 1 lakh after the latest 5090 announcement. Ive been wondering will they even do so if 5090 goes for about 2.5 or even 3 lakh and with AI inferencing getting more popular and models like qwen 32b coming out

Honestly, It doesn't seem like they will drop to that in the next 6 months. Given there was some recent news about GPU import limit as well, it is going to keep the prices high for a while.

Only after we get to know the rasterization performance , if 5070ti beats 4090 in rasterization , 4090 prices would most likely go down

5070ti
5070ti wont beat the 4090 in rasterization:
  • 5070ti - around 9k cuda cores
  • 4090 - 16k cuda cores
and the vram difference of around 8gb, only in multiframe gen and fake frames it can get close to 4090 but , 4090 will stay strong , i would say it will even beat the 5080 in raterization

Not a rat's chance in hell.

Not even the 5080 will beat the 4090 (it will about match it w/less VRAM).

Nvidia's keynote (and claims that the 5070=4090) was geared towards the general tech-noob sheep (the same that would believe more cores=better general performance).

Would be at least 8-10 months before we would see those prices imo.
4090s were selling for 1.5-1.7 not too long ago, dropped to 1.3-1.4 right now depending upon warranty and model.

They'll drop in prices a bit but not much right away after 5xxx series releases if the perf holds up in raster for 5090.

4090s (even used) will be harder to come by because the true performance uplift of the 5090 over the 4090 (without any of the fake frames fluff) is only around 25-33%. Also, forget about buying the 5090 at MSRP for at least a year.

I don't really see why to even bother with 4090 considering that it brings higher risk of getting burnt + shitty indian warranty ( even from Nvidia )
Atleast 2 guys on this forum had a burnt 4090, one of which was fatal and Nvidia refused to honor warranty for a known device issue.

Out of warranty used will be even worse. Let it problem for professionals.
Used 3080 vs used 4090 - More than 4x price and 2x perf.

just buy a 4080, these are sell for about 60k used and will probably come close to 55k in the next 6 months, it is only about 25-30% slower about 10% of which can be covered by overclocking so all in all if you buy the 4090 over the 4080 you are looking at a 15-20% improvement in performance for double the price.

and there are probably 10 other users who did not have that issue, plus everyone has different needs (gaming at 4k max settings, want to play 'competitive' esports, AI)
But it is a problem, failure is much higher vs old connectors, even if its not too often - see gamers nexus video.
And that motherboard connector getting burned also seems to be a known issue.

In US, you will get warranty support, here they will raise their hands up and say burned.

I play at 4k too with a 3080, but for now will stick with older titles.
Only 4090 has enough perf to be worth upgrading to for me i think, but price is too high and these sort of issues just remove any interest for me.
I bought 3080 for 60k new 2.5 years ago. A used 4090 today is more than 2x with 2x perf, does not make sense.
I don't really have FOMO for these things. So many games to play which run fine.

But yeah ofc, in spite of issues and horrible support, people will buy and its the best 4k high refresh rate option for latest games. 4080S/4070ti are decent too at 4k, i did hear 4080 also can get burnt like this ..
