I am looking for C size battery to use with the a toy, which I bought for my nephew. I am not able to find alkaline batteries in this size in chennai. Anyone got information??

thats the regular medium size battery right ? every general store should have it

or am i missing something ?

Batli bhai, most C sized batteries in generl stores are Zn-chloride and not alkaline...

check with the aza network guy Mano..he should have it

i have checked with lot of spencer stores and many other stores, all of them got regular C size batteries not the alkaline one (the toy is not working with regular batteries, need alkaline only)

@Abhinav I will check with the Aza guy.

mano if duracell ones are alkaline then see if you can get that. you can get it at health and glow , landmark and a few other shops. some small general stores have it too but not many

Ravin, In many stores they don't have it C size, even in Duracell. For the past one week, I keep searching for these. I regret for buying this toy without checking the battery size. (I think I have wasted 1.5k in this toy)

Anyone else find this odd ?

All an alkaline battery will do is give longer operating time.

Therefore i cannot see why any other 'C' battery would not work.

I've had a similar problem too. There was this point in time where I tried as hell to look for size C and D alkaline batteries. But no one stocked them. Apparently, such alkalines are outrageously expensive to buy so the shopkeepers refrain from stocking them. At least that's what I was told by the manager of a big consumer store.

the reason for this is some devices have a very high starting current drain.

Regular Zn-CL batteries with their high Internal resistance will drop too much voltage across the terminsals when trying to handle this high current drain

thats the reason why many digicams would show a low battery sign if you try running them on Zn-Cl but the same battery would function happily if you take it out and put it in a remote or a torchlight...

BTW what toy is it Gmano?

You just have to know where to look :) There are a few roadside stalls in Lamington Road that sell only batteries - they are located a few buildings South of Prime and on the same side of the road. Their prices are very reasonable and they stock all sorts of batteries. I got some C and D size Alkalines from one of these stalls a couple of years back.

The Toy is really cute :) . one simple solution for your problem. Just try to find out "C" adapters for AA batteries. so you can use ur AA sized NiMH rechargeable cells as "C" batteries.

^^ I have tried for adapters even before posting this thread. Not able to find them also. Any clue?
