As the title says, looking for good sites that offer legal music downloads.

Main criteria is that it should be supported in India (iTunes store does not seem to support Indian users :huh: )

Have already found one Indian based site : www.soundbuzz .com . So anythign apart from that.

^^Useless site... has 128kbps mp3s IIRC. The only music store thats actually good is musicgiants. You can download lossless versions of all songs.

you pay.. you download. That site has a good collection. Some of the albums are daylight robbery at $15. I would rather buy the cd. It says HD quality though. Wonder what that means.

ANyway some albums are at $1.29, has to be a misprint I guess.

There was also this site that offered songs for 1 cent/song or something :S ... allaboutmp3s or something :S:S:S:S

@tracer - At that price is it even legit. Thats the price most russian sites offer and they are not legit.

@akshit - no way legit

With our "strict" Indian laws, downloading off even P2P is legit :lol:

J/k! Thanks for the links folks, will check it out :)

^ No vinchu boy, i just wanted one that *supported* Indian users accessing/paying for downloads on their site :bleh:

Stores like iTunes etc, seem to explicitly deny access to people outside the US.

@Vince, suppose I download tracks from allofmp3, then after some time, the site becomes illegit. Does all my music become illegit too ? :/

Yeah your next morning tea would be served by a RIAA agent. :P

Site cannot become illegit all of a sudden. It is illegal even if the laws of that country says so or it just isn't. You cant sell something that belongs to someone else (that too without their permission) and reap the total profits.

There is no misprint...the $15 ones are albums whereas the $1.29 are tracks....

^ Ok, so allofmp3 is illegal. What about the other sites - is there some "list" of sites that are legal/illegal?

The info is mainly for a friend, so i doubt the friend would need absolute high quality/lossless stuff .. reasonably compressed MP3's would do too :)
