PC Peripherals Where is my RAM!!

Skilled
Few months back I purchased Corsair XMS2 800Mhz DDR2 RAM to accompany my older 2x1GB G-Skill 6400CL5-1GBNQ RAMs. After few days I noticed system was not showing my 2GB RAM. I tried booting alone these G-Skill RAMs but no luck . :S

After that day my PC was running on only Corsair 2GB and i thought my G-Skills went kaput. But today after so many months I took those RAMs to test on some other system and to my amazement these sticks working on other system and it passed memtest also. But again putting in my system it again disappears.

CPU-Z confirms 4GB RAM is installed but BIOS and windows unable to recognize it. :S

also let the default memory timings to its default
i simpler words disable any overclocking for the time being and then try testing the dimms.

In bios try to force them to some lower frequency like 667 mhz or 400 mhz for testing . Some motherboards ( old mostly ) are not able to run all 4 ram's at dual channel in 800 mhz mode.

Yes I tried that too but no luck.

Is it possible to disable ram slots :ashamed: if not then just maybe your mobo gave up on your RAM's. Last resort: Sell it off or RMA :) Both are 6400 RAM's. This does happen in ma office too... when peeps go to upgrade a RAM even if the RAM's are made up of the same speed but diff makers the machine dumps... we just remove all the RAM's and put in RAM's of same make; and that solves problems only sometimes.... RAM's are too crazy these days :bleh:

It seems this is my last resort and option available as of now.

This is really scratching my brain, my system doesn't even start with G-Skill RAMs but earlier it used to...

Whether these RAMs require any specific volts to live up ?

I am not able to see the specs from office.
Bt have u tried removing the Corsair and booting only with the Gskill.

I guess its the mismatch of the modules. Also Corsair would be in first slot, so that is detected and Gskill in later slots won't be detected. :cool2:

See the Asus Site.

IF you are using Dual Channel u cannot use 1GB x 1GB x 2GB. the pairing like that is not supported i think..

Either all 4 slots should have 1GB x4 on 4 slots or 2GB x 2 in 2 slots.

You should make it use single channel( you can set this in BIOS options) and give it a try..

keep 2GB in First Slot and rest in 2,3 slots and try..

See the USER MANUAL, PAGE# 20. get it from http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M3A78-EM

They recommends some module configuration in manual you have to keep DIMM's in same way and try..
