I am not sure if this thread would qualify to be present in the Wanted thread. If it does, Mods, please move it there.

If it doesn't then you could help me with the Answers here.
Am from NCR region and looking for a DV9000 CPU fan, I don't think I have a heatsink problem. Only the bush of the Fan has conked up.

Also would I be able to find a new fan somewhere or will they be used fan from conked up lappies?

Also looking for 12 cell battery for DV9000 and 8 Cell battery for DV5t.

Help/ pointers any one? Online/ in store?

Find the model number of the fan and search on eBay.com (not eBay.in!). You will find the replacement there.

In all probability, the fan will be a Delta OEM.

Thanks Gannu,
I already did that. But I was just a little skeptical about ordering a CPU fan from eBay. Mostly HongKong sellers are selling them. I was wondering if its a better idea to get it in person? I went to nehru Place market in new delhi and found all the shopkeepers whom ever I asked for the fan, calling up some other guy called Vijay and asking him for the fan. Of course they would add a few 100 bucks as their commission which I don't mind.

One guy even got the fan in my hand, I realised it was used. he then said, here you would get only used stuff. And I am coming to Bangalore for 2 weeks so though I might as well check it out there.

Any one in Bangalore knows of shops where I could get it ?
If I don't get any success here then may be I will shop it from ebay itself.

Actually, some of the dealers who have a good feedback are damn well reliable and for a small device such as this, it should be shipped without any issues using the normal postal service. And it wouldn't attract any customs knowing that it is a tiny fan inside a small bubble-wrapped envelope.

What does the sticker on the base of the fan read?

Thanks Gannu.
This is an image of a comptible Fan.

Mine has a small logo of a triangle, still trying to find it.

Found it !

This is what I have in my laptop

Actually I also found this website which is selling it to India with free shipping. So Just 3$. which is 170 bucks. As compared to the shops where they are charging 600-700 for this.

What would you say about this website PChub.com? Is it reliable?

Also I think there are 2 models, one for Intel and one for AMD processors. The difference is in the heatsink. Since I am not suspecting my heat sink to be problematic I think the fan will work the same in both.

To be on the safer side I will strip open my laptop again tomorrow and find the exact product number for the FAN and let you know. We can then take it forward.

The screw holes could be a problem in that case. Just to be sure you could get the ones specified in the listing with the DV9000 series.

Yup, I know what you mean. For one of the processors, the Fan is fixed with the heat sink and the entire assembly needs to be changed. For the other type, we could remove the fan alone with the 4 screws on the corners. I am very sure mine is the one in which the fan can be separated from the heat sink (as I myself took it out to clean), but will get the exact product number just to be sure.

Just curious, what happened to the older fan? Did the impeller come out of the shroud? Do you have the older fan with you?

Well, the previous fan stopped working, it would work sporadically. Then I thought there's some dirt etc in the fins of the CPU fan so blew it out a bit with a Vacuum cleaner. Not sure if that spoilt it. There was only some dirt, not a lot. Not something which would obstruct the fan. Then again after a few days it stopped working. Now when I went to Nehru Place, I saw a working fan. I saw how it moves when you try to rotate it with your finger. It moves and then stops with a jerk. That's supposed to be good.

Unlike that, my fan was moving completely freely. The guy at the repair shop said "the Bush is spoiled". Thats all I know.
Now the fan just wouldn't start on. yes the older fan is still with me. I cleaned it and hoped it would work, but it won't move at all now.

Just checked the ebay link you posted above. Cost wise it seems the same as buying it in person, but this seller won't ship it to India.

Which shop did you visit? There are some reliable laptop repairing shops in nehru place. If you want I can forward you number.
In most of the cases bearing is at fault rather than whole fan. If that's the case then I would recommend to just get bearing replaced as you will never that original quality.

Hi Satan,
I went to Shop num 111, Meghdoot Building, called BNG solutions. He had a fairly big shop and was into laptop repairs as well. Please forward me your contacts' numbers as well. You never know they might have the piece themselves. Yes you're right, the bearing/ bush has conked off I think.

How DO you get the bearing replaced? Does any one do this stuff in nehru place itself?

I managed to find this link and told me the exact part number of the FAN
HP PartSurfer (GW910AV) is my Product Number.
It mentions two items. Now I need to find out which one is for my laptop.

450863-001 Processor fan with heat sink assembly - For UMA motherboard
450864-001 Processor fan with heat sink assembly - For Discrete motherboard

Could someone help me with the difference between UMA/ Discrete Motherboard?

Also both these items above are sold by HP with the heat sink? Any possibility to find the fan alone?
