Where to buy the most affordable 2–3 kW solar setup for home use in India?

Hi all,

I'm looking to install a solar power system at home in the 2–3 kW range to reduce my electricity bills and be a bit more self-reliant. The idea is to power essentials like fans, lights, maybe a fridge, and basic electronics.

Does anyone here have experience with home solar installations?

  • What kind of setup should I be looking for (on-grid/off-grid/hybrid)?
  • Where can I find the most affordable and reliable solar panels + inverters + batteries?
  • Any trusted online sellers or local vendors you recommend?

Budget is a key concern — trying to keep it cost-effective without going for low-quality components. I'm based in India, so if you know any government schemes or subsidies I should be aware of, please do share.

Appreciate any help or suggestions from folks who’ve already gone solar!

Solar System EPC is my Business so i can probably help you to decide

1- this depends on your goal /usecase what you want the electricity generated to do
  • power you home as an independent system
  • reduce your electricity bill
  • both
2 - What's your budget if you have one
3 - Depends on your location / state

i too have a question, is 1 lakh more than enough for 2-3Kw range?

2. 3-4L

nope 1.5L min also dont ever compromise on safety as people will tell you we can reduce the cost of we cut down on it

Also separate earthing is a must after 2 kw setup as float current gets generated

well if you want to cut cost dont use bundled system from utel ,luminous etc
they have absurd pricing

3 - Am in north so cant tell you much about it but talk to some vendors locally one trick to find their contacts is to go to pmsuryaghar or solarrooftop and than filter them

2 - if you going for hybrid system 4L is more than enough for 3 KW the general customer rate is around 90 rs / watt in my state for hybrid with battery backup (including civil and installation)
the more capacity the less it costs

1 - If you want to go towards hybrid or on grid you have to get a net meter installed from your DISCOM and get a permit off-grid doesn't have this you can use hybrid as offgrid too though

In my experience all DCR (domestic content requirement) panels are same u can choose any brand but its costly as name suggest cells are made in india ( for on-grid using dcr panels is a must )

but non-dcr panels are the most efficient ones as well as cheapest one some companies i trust are Vikram Solar/ waaree solar / Renewsys

unfortunately i cant disclose you the exact rate but its under 25 rs / watt for 545 W panel
i too have a question, is 1 lakh more than enough for 2-3Kw range?
answered in above post just calculate the rate
