Where to get a new BSNL prepaid connection in Bangalore?

I just shifted to Bangalore last week. I have taken a Docomo SIM and need a BSNL sim too.
Back home I could get BSNL connection from the local shop. But in the place I am staying at presently(Frazer Town), nobody seems to keep BSNL connections.
Bangalore residents, can you tell me if it is possible to get a new BSNL connection from a local shop or do I have to go to the local exchange?
I don't want to go to the exchange since they will go by the rule book and will ask for all types of proofs. I only have a voter ID card which carries the address of my hometown.

Local shop or BSNL office, your connection will be activated only after receipt of proper documents. I believe there is some option for outstation customers, where you can submit proof of permanent address rather than the present local address. VIsit the BSNL office for details. One other way is to ask any of your co-workers or colleagues who are residents of Bangalore to apply for the SIM on your behalf and hand it over to you.
