I have feb to april, so please tell me the best time to visit.

Hello, I'm from Bhubaneswar, Odisha. I'd like to help you up in planning the trip.

You can visit the town of Puri. It has the all famous Sri Jagannath temple, also you get to visit the sea beach nearby. Just around 30KM from Puri, you've the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Sun Temple. You can catch a flight from Delhi to Bhubaneswar. From there you can reach Puri/Konark by renting car. And yes, don't take those travel agency, they do loot a lot from outsiders. Other places you can roam here are, the Temple City of Bhubaneswar, a calm beach like Chandipur(around 200KM from Bhubaneswar). Do visit Chillika Lake, it is the 2nd largest lagoon in the world & winter is the best time to catch the glimpse of visiting birds. Most of the places will take you one day each. Lodging is quite affordable in most of the places. Hope you've a good time visiting my state. :)

Skip Darjeeling > Over hyped and worst place

Gangtok and around area (like lakes and khar-du-la pass aka india -chinese border), you can even enjoy river rafting there in down hill areas +1 +1 +1 , i will also suggest you to take 2-3 night rest at gangtok and enjoy the peace + kind environment and people, you will feel like you have arrived at another planet :p

If you have more time, go North- Sikkim (Damm awesome place, ) , will take additional 7-8 days, (180 km drive will take 8-9 hrs)

You can go Nagaland also b/w 1st-10th dec, Hornbill festival will commence, i am also planning to go at same time if exam permits :D

@manjeet you suggested orissa, but didn't gave any hint about bhitarkanika national park aka mangrove forest with hell loads of birds, crocodiles and turtles :P :P, damm you :P :P

Thanks for pointing out :D.

Well yes, that's a good place to visit around. Last time I checked they required some sort of permission for entry, so make sure to apply for it prior. Also, there is Gahirmatha Beach, the nesting ground for the famous Olive Ridley turtles. Both the places are located ~150KM from Bhubaneswar.

As OP is from Delhi, I guess he would have certainly visited hill stations up North. So beaches would be a nice option this time around. :)

I m planning gangtok and those high altitude areas like lachung etc. and darjeeling :)

Please suggest me the nearest airport as i want to go there by flight.

Try to visit Meghalaya(Shillong, bada-pani, cherapunji, a few churches, and falls in and around); Arunachal(tainga-tawang, Buddhist monasteries, war memorials, high altitude pass, by the way the altitude will rise very very quickly in Arunachal so take care); Nagaland - kohima during the hornbill festival, kohima war memorial, the public the will be very helpful ask for their recommended places to visit; you'll be crossing Assam a lot, visit a few temples in Guwahati, there are a few historical places too in Guwahati and Tezpur, don't forget to visit Kaziranga. I don't have much idea about Mizoram and Manipur but I've heard Mizoram has lovely churches.

The roads and highways would always be surrounded by forests and beautiful sceneries, better than anywhere else in India, and I've been to all the 4 corners of India. The scenery from 6000ft-7000ft in Arunachal will not even feel like India, as soon as you hit Tawang(10000ft) greenery will stop growing and you'll see cold desert like landscape filled with flowers.

Its nathula pass not khardung-la pass. The pass is around 14500 feet. So you pretty be physically fit!! I saw a lady get down from the car and fall unconscious after 5 steps. I too got hypoxia on my way down :hungover:. Besides Tsomgo lake is a beautiful lake on the way, Other attraction was buddhist temple in Rabongla. Awesome place!!!

^^ I don't think any extreme physical fitness is required. Any normal person can go there. Although I haven't visited Nathu-la pass, I did go upto Baba mandir twice. Also, it takes time to get a permit for nathu-la pass so apply beforehand.
Also carry a valid ID proof & multiple passport size photographs for permits that are required for visiting most places.

You can't complete East India / NE states like that in 7 days. So better fix a place like you already did.

So Gangtok right? Visit Gangtok, North Sikkim (Lachung - Lachen). I just did the trip last month. It was awesome. Even you can't complete whole sikkim in 7 days. Gangtok and North Sikkim itself will take 7 days. So if you want to visit Pelling, Darjeeling etc. you need more time.

Let me know if you want to know more about Gangtok & North Sikkim.

You can also consider Puri. It's up to you, Sea or Mountain.

^This. 7 days is way too less for a NE trip. If your holidays are limited I would suggest Sikkim and Nagaland during the Hornbill festival. :D
If you have more time you can go to Shillong. But don't miss the Hornbill festival.
Manipur also has a Sangai festival (equivalent to Nagaland's Hornbill festival) but avoid that state at all cost.
