Which 2.1 Spkrs under 4k to buy ?

ppl, could u suggest me with the selection of 2.1 spkrs..

A few specs/requirements are .
- 70% music ( mostly rock and heavy metal \m/) 30% movies
- have an onboard Realtek HD soundcard which i got along with my XFX 650i mobo
- room is 12x14 feet
- an inbuilt microphone is also needed (preferably)

Budget is 2-4k..

i am looking at the following models,

Altec Lansing VS 4121 v/s VS 2421 v/s VS 2521

Also do the VS 4121 spkrs have a microphone..? Did'nt get this info anywhere..

i'm getting VS 4121 for Rs. 3.6k in Pune..
i read in some other post that u get those for 2.9k !!

As for the built-in mic, I haven't heard any speakers coming with built-in mic... then again I could be wrong.

Who would want to put microphone in the speaker itself is beyond me.

creative 2.1 is a good choice, it will cost you approxiamately rs. 1200 [price as of april 2007, i do not know the latest price], am not sure creative still manufactures this speaker set, my personal experience i am very happy with the output of this speakers in my small bedroom

^ pleas not those crappy creative inspire or SBS speakers they sound too bad afaik .Please do purchase the Altec Lansing VS4121 ,they rock :yahoo: :yahoo: .

As for the price 3.6k seeems a bit overpriced

yes, i did go thru that thread and there was no mention of Altec Lansing VS2421 and VS2521 models..
these models are a grand cheaper and one of them offers a wired remote for controls and has a microphone in it..

I got the VS2521 for my Dell laptop which I use in my bedroom. Sound quality is okhay and way better than the creative T3100. Got it for Rs 2600/- from Glassgow computers in Brgd Rd Blore, I could have tried the VS4241 which the seller told me cost only Rs 3000/- but was not available then. Now I regret a bit but for my next upgrade when the bank balnce goes up would be AudioEngine AE5
