I intend to buy a 1TB 3.5" HDD next week solely for storage/dumping purpose. Alongwith i want to buy a decent External 3.5" HDD enclosure. I dont want to buy the likes of MYBOOK/FREEAGENT as i wont b able to use the HDD as an internal drive if need arises:(. Here are my main requirements:

1)Budget 1k-2k
2)Strong and sturdy build
3)Keeps the HDD cool(passively preferred)
4)e-sata is not a must have, can live with USB:P.
5)Buying thru KMD option open if not available locally.

So frnds, plz let me know which enclosure would suit me best.
Also, for purely dumping purpose, which 1TB drive is better/reliable? WD Green or Seagate 7200.12?

TIA:)

How about the Transcend StoreJet 35 Casing? Check out the Transcend website for it. Pretty cool with an inbuilt fan. One point of concern is that the casing has 12 screws! So if you plan on putting in one drive and forgetting about it, then its OK. But if you plan on swapping your drives, then this casing is not for you. Instead, consider a dock.

If nothing else works, you can always go in for the cheap chinese casings. They are sturdy enough if you don't plan on manhandling the unit. The problem with these casing are the PCBs which are not covered under warranty.

Thnx Udit, will definitely go for the EADS drive. BTW, how does the CM X-CRAFT 350 stack up against the Sunbeam model u suggested?

definitely not going for the cheap chinese casings...data is precious....and the adapter would blow up in a month anyways:bleh:

CM X-CRAFT 350 has no fan

buy Sunbeam Airbox 3.5 or Transcend StoreJet 35
