I have narrowed down to Sandisk and Kingston as they have 5 yrs warranty and are priced at Rs.400 www.deltapage.com

So now which model among these two brands is the best? Is the new cap less Cruzer any good?
I found the Sandisk Micro Skin to be good. Are they still available in the market.

If Kingston then which model?

TIA :)

Kingston is having a lot of models, it's hard to choose! If you prefer without cap, check the swivel DT-101 G2, if you prefer with cap, check the C10. While Kingston and Sandisk are giving 5 years warranty, you'll get 10 years for Corsair.

Sandisk? :P

Honestly there's not much R&D involved in narrowing down the selection to a pen drive - give or take some seconds for the file transfer but that's about it. All pen drives show a wear rate eventually - I had a Corsair Voyager 4GB before and lately, it has become noticeably slow compared to the initial speeds. I had a Sandisk Cruzer 4GB before and it used to be quite good.

Thanks guys. The C10 looks cool(Green color looks great) :D

4GB model not available in e-bay. Will try to source from Ritchie Street. If anyone knows the availability of this model in Ritchie Street then plz post here.

The new Sandisk is cap-less. Its comes with only the drive. Nothing else. But style wise its the best. The Corsair looks more rugged.

Corsair is best choice as of now, it has the best read/write speed.
Read transfer speed: 34MB/s
Write transfer speed: 28MB/s
Sandisk has very poor performance.

just google the model with "read write speed" term.

4GB Corsair drives costs almost equivalent to 8GB of other drives. Also IINM only the Voyager GT has great write speeds and the regular series speed in Corsair too aint that good.

Any particular reason for overlooking Transcend? They too have good durability, and have separate high speed models too.

i think flash voyager too has decent speeds compared to others . it has an average read speed of 13-19 MBps & write speed of 8-9 MBps.
I just benched mine for read with HD tune & it is showing an average read speed of 32 MBps.

If you don't like the drive with cap , you can go for flash voyager mini. it's true that these drives are costly as compared to others in the market but i believe you get what you paid for.

Why not 8GB? eBay India: Kingston 8GB PENDRIVE C10 with warranty (item 390226222118 end time 20-Aug-2010 13:54:52 IST) Looks like this seller is from Chennai. Register for a new account in eBay and after 15% discount, it's 696/- Rs.

Go to challenger computer or sethia if you want to stick with the 4GB :)

Doing RMA is a pain for Transcend products :P

The newer sandisk pen drives dont have the build quality and speed of the older mettalic ones. I think its better to go with corsair.

Thanks :) Not in need of a 8GB one. 4GB would suffice. Will chk it out at Sethia. Also green is my favorite color.

I was also sceptical about the new Cruzer Blade. It just looked down right cheap even in the pics :P Thats why wanted to get user feedback. Will go with Kingston ones as they are much cheaper than Corsair's.

Where did u get these speeds ?????? only costly ones offer those speeds..

AFAIK all normal pendrives give 4 - 10 MBPS..

And OP you should Sandisk those metallic ones.. i was very impressed by them..

And i own a Sony Pen drive Click with microvault - been using it since 2 years gives the same speed as when i bought it.. its Awesome.. and it clicks.. should cost 450.. 500 max..View attachment 11585

No.. The challenger computer I mentioned is opposite to Rajendra Complex, in the first floor. IIRC, there's bank (Karnataka bank) in that floor. You can ask the peoples roaming there :)

That was Voyager GT, sorry.

normal pen drives give very low performance.

dont buy a pen drive just because its very affordable, look at the performance.

coz when you start copying large files to & fro the pen drive, you're concern will just be the TIME.

the lesser it is, the happier you'll be.

My corsair is with my bro., i'll post its benchmark later.

Kingston 2GB data traveler,

2GB Transcend V30

If this flash drive in inserted when booting PC, it causes 10-15second delay in BIOS screen. dunno whats the reason.

When copying a 700MB or 1.5GB file, it takes ages for it to transfer.
Kingston gives slightly better performance
