Which AC to choose?

Normal mode isn't suited to reduce humidity level effectively, unless you run AC on low fan speed which is exactly what Dry mode does.
Any mode that I use, reduce humidity only when the compressor is running. And once the compressor stops, all the humidity which was taken out gets restored.

How is the air throw on Daikin? Is it wide?

My Panasonic has a very narrow range of throw (horizontal as well as vertical).

My Panasonic also has trouble to reduce humidity in winters. An AC technician said it's common with all Panasonic.
Based on official specifications from both brands Panasonic 1.5 ton 5 star models have higher airflow ranging from 636 to 720 CFM but a lower moisture removal rate of 1.2 liters per hour while Daikin's 1.5 ton 5 star models have an airflow rate of 593 CFM and a moisture removal rate of 1.8 liters per hour.

There isn't much said about the air throw range only that Panasonic claims an air throw of upto 45 feet for models that come with the Jetstream feature and Daikin claims an air throw of upto 52 feet with most 5 star models.

Check the weight of indoor unit and out door units. Heavier ones are more reliable and maybe expensive . Cheaper ones are of low weight ( 11-12kg), meaning that the internal components are cheaper quality.

Holly molly. Thanks for this pointer.

The Jetstream is a bit of a gimmick as it isn't available in all modes. I don't have a problem with CFM. I don't get any of that airflow where I normally seat or sleep. I have to manually adjust the flaps.

If I'm not wrong, 5 star outdoor units look bigger. I think they have a bigger radiator.

Had experience with LG, Bluestar, Hitachi & panasonic.
Hitachi tops in terms of cooling & budget friendly too compared to rest. Service hit or a miss. Make sure proper installation should be done with vaccum. Lg is worst in terms of cooling & their after sales service is best.

Two cents of mine for top cooling & longevity of the unit - please clean indoor unit filters once a month & outdoor unit fins once in three months.

Both are not same. Don't compare Hitachi to Lloyd. Hitachi is next level & 1st class like Daikin.
Lloyd ACs are used in Railway Stations but my aunt bought Lloyd during COVID lockdown since no other ACs were available but has been working good and cooling does take its time. Hitachi takes some what less time to cool the room compared with Lloyd.

In my experience, stick with Mitsubishi Electric/Heavy (Heavy are expensive) over O-General especially in the South. O-General is not as popular here and 3rd party service teams are not familiar with servicing of O-General ACs as compared to Mitsubishi.

I'd installed three O-General 5 star, inverter ACs at my place of business last year (just to give them a try). One of these ACs has started giving problems just outside the warranty period. I've now received a quote of 15K + tax for indoor and outdoor PCB replacement. Plus, the multi brand dealer cum service centre that I sourced the ACs from was unable to do any repairs himself any only directed me to O-General who in turn, has outsourced the servicing of their ACs to some 3rd party agency in Bangalore. The 3rd party agency (S.M. Coolers) has gone on one week's holiday due to financial year end closure. I'm facing a myriad of problems in trying to repair my AC which is essential on a daily basis during summers in a commercial setup.

Over the past 20 years I've installed multiple brands (Godrej, Hitachi, Daikin, Mitsubishi, O-General) of ACs at my residential properties and commercial premises. Every AC except for Mitsubishi gave me one problem or the other over time. Some brands for e.g. Daikin models around 2015-2017 were particularly nasty to fix with poor availability of parts and part compatibility issues. One older Daikin model of mine was finally fixed after multiple servicings but lost the ability to beep due to a part compatibility issue. A newer 2018 Daikin model that I'd installed was better and is still going strong. My Hitachi AC was serviced multiple times but over the years, it simply lost the ability to cool and the quality of cool air was not good. My Godrej ACs would consume massive amounts of power but then, they were 2/3 star rated, non-inverter ACs that were installed almost 20 years ago. They are replaced now. I cannot definitively say that one brand is bad as models and designs change over the years. However, I think that in terms of cooling performance, fine tuned cooling control, product quality and consistency especially for more complex, inverter ACs, Mitsubishi ACs are simply engineered better than other brands.

If you want you can go with Voltas Adjustable Inverter AC, 1.5 Ton, 5 star - 185V Vectra Elegant @ ₹42k

We have a 4 Voltas Vertis Gold 1.5 ton 5 star rating Split ACs in our home bought in 2012 for ₹42k each and are working simply superb since then. Just changed the gas in 2019 for all the ACs. These 4 split ACs even work on generator in our 3bhk apartment. No probs what do ever.

The technicians that come for Voltas are sensible and reasonable and technically resource able.

We also have a Vestar 1.5 ton 3 star rating Split AC bought in 2020 during COVID lockdown for ₹37k and has been working great until now just changed gas in 2023.

Even for Vestar the technician was very good and resource able.

All the split ACs we bought aren't inverter or converter ACs just plain split ACs.

Are you saying you are able to run 4 1.5ton non-inverter ACs on a Generator? Wow. I assumed they were inverter ACs as those are more power efficient.
First time I hear of this brand Vestar.

Yes any big diesel generator can run at least 20 1.5 ton split ACs I think because we have 8 3bhks in our apartment complex on this generator while each apartment has 4-6 1.5 ton split ACs in them. And it runs all of them comfortably.

Hello,

Thanks for this reply, Actually I have used both Hitachi (Inverter) and Lloyd Models (Non - Inverter) and my Experience has been good, so I have to decide between these two, I want to ask Is the Size of Units (Internal and External) effect performance? as Lloyd's both Units are bigger than Hitachi.
Thanks
