Hi friends

Looking to buy an All in one printer..Recently found the deal Epson Stylusâ„¢ TX121 Inkjet Color All-in-One Printer +Reffilable Crt+400ml Ink | eBay

The guy is offering refillable cartridge with ink.

Also does the All in one printer allows to make photocopies without the need of PC (like a xerox machine)The Epson one has PC less function..So does this allows me use the printer without PC for making photocopies of my notes?

I am a noob when it comes to printers. So please help.

the printer is a good one. many folks here use it. pc less means you dont have to switch on the pc, so yes you can take photocopies without switching on the pc.

Since you are new to printers, do you know how to install the CISS kit? I'm not sure it will comes pre installed from the seller due to ink getting spilt during delivery. There are epson models which come with their own branded CISS kit and ink but cost around 7.5k.

the ebay cost looks bit on pricey side. do search on flipkart or other reliable sites for the actual cost of the printer.

6 pack for refillable cartridges which company will you prefer?Canon,hp or epson.

I am using canon mp160 from past 4-5 years. And now its giving me hell lot of error .SO i guess type to pull the plug for same.

i have a HP AIO. I refill the cartridges myself. Trouble with HP is you wont get ciss kit easily for them cause of the printer design which does not allow such kits to be installed easily.

For ciss (which is cheaper in long run), Epson is quite good.

If you want to get a new printer, get whichever suits your budget and printing needs. If you mostly print in b/w like i do, then a laser printer is better. the printed text is crisper and you will get higher yield from a laser compared to inkjets. They are priced at around 4k.

Thanks any model will you suggest?

I was planning to get AIO.

But since they give lot of error. And i fee i can click snaps with my canon 9mp camera i can just go for only printer.

B/w will do.

And ill do self refill as i do in my inkjet too.

yes there are. there are colour laser aio's too. but the laser aio's prices start at about 11k.

You can see the hp site for their laser aio - HP

#MAGNeT, can suggest model if you give budget. Do you prefer laser or inkjet?

I am avoiding laserjet becoz sometimes i doesnt use printout for 15-20 days. And sometimes its heavy. But at an average say 5 pages daily.

Budget anything will do from 2000-5000.But it should last 3 years or more than 1000 days.

I have the HP Deskjet 2050 ~ 4000/- at home, it is a standard AIO and has performed very well till now.

Also quality is in no ways impacted by the lack of separate colour tanks [there is a single tank of CMY ink instead of the industry standard of seperate Cyan / Magenta / Yellow tanks] + one black ink tank. Although this translates to colour ink finishing faster in case of heavy photo-printing.

It supports the PC-less Photo-copy option too.

Hope this helps. Cheers!!

Alpha i planning to use ciss kit as default cartridges are chip. And it gives all short of errors it can give so that it doesnt get reuse.

And so far canon and HP are best to avoid it.

To each his own, I understand Sire, no issues. Cheers!!

Since you are avoiding HP and Canon, then I recommend

Epson Stylus - TX121 - 3k (choice of many people here who have installed ciss kit on it successfully)

or Epson Stylus TX220 - around 5k which uses same 73N ink as above. Its out of stock many places online, but maybe you could find it in a shop.

yes it is good, but it will look better if you buy it after applying a discount coupon. you do know how to install a ciss kit right? if not, ask the seller to send some detailled instructions on how to install it. if theres mistake in installing it, then the ink will leak all over inside the printer. remember to keep ink tank below the level of printer.

many thanks to all. Also my friend is considering to buy a b/w laser printer coz he is in somewhat heavy duty printing..So do one needs to put some ink or cartridge or whatever to it. I have heard that laser printers costs less in per page printing..

laser printers need a toner (its a special extremely fine microscopic powder) instead of ink. They do cost less per page printing plus have much better speeds than inkjet printers, but need a lot of power comparitively.

I saw a xerox laser printer on flipkart for around 5k with a 30000 pages duty cycle. Requires around 330W power (when active), compared to inkjets which take between 10-60W max.

Flipkart Link

Xerox Link - This above model does not have duplex printing, so if that is necessary, there are many more products by xerox in this link.
