Does anyone use a Standard Chartered account?

I am thinking of getting one, anything I should watch out for?

HSBC and Stanchi are good if you get Zero Balance a/c otherwise QAB may be a problem ...as it chokes ur liquidity...

i have HSBC and Axis accounts..
using axis with my trading account and it really sucks.. their servers frequently goes down during the day.. if u intend to do internet banking avoid Axis bank.

HSBC has been really great though.. greatest advantage is i can do any number of ATM transactions at any bank ATM anywhere in india without any charge.Everything great about it except that it comes at a premium.

Thanks for the information.:)

They were saying I will need to maintain a QAB of 10,000. I think I can manage that. Apart from that, is there anything specific I should be careful about (hidden charges, etc)?

Mate .. U r Richie Rich !!:ohyeah: :ohyeah:

I have been a long time customer of HDFC (since 1996) and the experience has been excellent.

Now my primary banking is through HDFC only.

Other notable suggestion in private sector is IDBI and Kotak-Mahindra both are aggressive and better thats what i have heard but havent used it first hand.

On the governement front SBI is good till you can do your work from ATMs and ONLINE but if you have to visit the branch its still nightmare.

Union Bank of India has also improved a lot.

Things to ponder while selecting a bank:
Select the bank which has a branch in your vicinity (be it home or office) as we never know when regulations change and we need to visit branch sometime.

Secondly look for presence of ATMs.

Other facilities like Netbanking, widely accepted Debit Card, minmal charges which are hidden first hand.
Based on my first hand experiences i would advise you to avoid ICICI and BOB.
