Graphic Cards Which card and which series?

Well, I am going to be building a new rig, probably with :

AMD Phenom II Tricore/Quadcore processor
Biostar mobo
Aftermarket Heatsink
4gb RAM
500gb Harddisk
DVD RW

and am looking for a graphics card.

Main uses - Internet, browsing, multitasking, office work, movies, games (mainly FSX)

Budget for video card - Rs 7k/- but could stretch it to Rs.10k/-.

As far as I gathered from the internet, Nvidia has 7,8 and 9 series cards and 7 series seems to be obselete. On the other hard, ATI has HD3xxx and HD4xxx where HD3xxx seems to be obselete, though cards with both 7 series GPU and HD3xxx are available. The other series are either very old or do not fit in my budget.

So I have to choose between HD4xxx, Nvidia 8xxx and Nvidia 9xxx.

At the moment I am using 19" LCD but would like option to switch to a bigger screen (around 22"), thought this is not very important.

I tried FSX demo on Amd athlon 7750, 2gb ram and Asus Mobo (Nvidia Geforce 7025/nforce 630a) and it worked fine on somewhat high settings with some lag.

I was considering HD4870 512mb ddr3 but then I found HD4850 1gb ddr3 for a good price. Which of these two is better?

In case of Video Ram and specifically FSX, is 1GB DDR2 better than 512MB DDR3 or higher?

Again from what I have read, 8400GT doesn't look good. So is 8600GT/9600GT a good choice?

And finally, among the ones I shortlisted, which one do you recommend?

Please advise.

4870 512MB eyes closed if you wanna upgrade to a 22"/23" monitor later. yeah, 512MB 4870 is much better than a 4850 1GB because the processors of 4870 is much powerful than the 4850. Its like comparing a P4 with 4GB RAM and a core2duo with 2GB RAM. :)

And the other ones like 8600GT/9600GT don't even come anywhere close to 4870/4850. Only GTS250 competes with 4850. But again, as your budget is max 10k and wanna have an option to upgrade to HD 22"/23" screen, 4870 is recommended. :) And 4870 comes with GDDR5 memory unlike the GDDR3 of 4850,GTS250 etc.

I suggest waiting till sep 10 or until DX 11 cards are out. Prices of DX 10 cards might fall even if DX 11 cards dont arrive in INDIA by tht time.
