Hi All

I am planning to buy a console since i have never played on a console before. Is buying a PS2 still worth it?
I dont get too much time for playing games due to work pressure and all....so would PS2 be worth buying and how much would a moddd PS2 cost in delhi?

Or should i go for a PS3 ...frankly i dont want to spend too much on a high end console. My laptop has ATI 4570 graphics so i do end up playing qute a few PC exclusives on it.

what do you guys suggest?

Thanks!

Light gaming...go for PS2...

Medium gaming...go for 360...

Heavy gaming...go for HIGH END GFX card or PS3....

PS2 will be fine, price is the same for modded or non-modded one

if you have some cash then you can also get 360 which also can be modded and would be around 11-12k

PS3 would be costly and also can't be modded

The best gaming experience - Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Super NES (SNES). Nothing beats that!

In this day and age however, a PS2 will do just fine for you. It has a wide range of games which are easily available.

What games do you have in mind for your 'light' gaming?

Why dont you just go in for the PSP ? I mean that thing WILL still get future games n all.. there will not be many new games for the PS2 though. Though if not the PSP then in your case just get the PS2

wat the hell do you mean by future games?

the console and handheld games quality does only depend on its futureness, this guy probably hasn't played PS2 game franchises so it would be new to him too

So what if it is new? Doesn't mean one has to start from the first generation of consoles to level up LOL. For the record, I did not have a PS2 nor a PSone. I had an 8bit NES for almost a decade and switched to PC later on. And now the PS3 and a fairly okay'ish PC capable of playing most tiles with decent eye-candy.

Going by your posts in this thread and the RDR thread, you seem to be paranoid about what others have to say. On a public forum, others are entitled to their opinions as well - whether or not you like it. So respect it and move on instead of cribbing about it.

I already have a PSP.And console gaming is quite different than a hand held.I have played FIFA on PSP and it wasnt that much interesting.

I think PS2 would nicely fit my budget :D

@Solid_Snake : Dude ... chill ! what i gave was MY opinion and i didnt force it on anyone. Before commenting on anything first go learn the etiquettes of internet forums :/

@Desecrator : Same here man... NES to PS3 gamer jump ;) Man.... those 8bit days were the best i tell you !

@Glider : In that case the PS2 would be pretty much perfect unless you can land a second hand 360 at that amount.

Thanks Everyone for the replies....its going to be PS2 for me at present.
Just a little doubt , can i connect the PS2 to an LCD monitor , i have a USB tv tuner card , if that helps.I dont have a tv ,so was plannin to buy a LCD monitor , will that suffice??
Or should i buy those LCD tv/montors??

P.S: I think this secondary question would go in another section...

You might as well buy the the LCD/TV monitor so that you can plug in Tata Sky etc later on . The USB TV Tuner Cards drop the video quality quite a bit depending on make.
