^ Ah yes, that plagues most models. Although, mine isn't that bad.
Yeah...but I'm disappointed ...even after spending so much money...I dont feel like using it coz not sure when the other person says "pls speak louder"

Hi Praks,
What I came to know from my own search for DECT cordless phone, is that there is no dedicated frequency for DECT phones in India as yet. So, the quality that these phone can achieve in US or elsewhere, cannot be replicated here, till TRAI gives approval to set up dedicated frequency for DECT phones.

I did contact one of the buyer of Siemens cordless phone (2.4 GHZ). His opinion on that phone is
As for siemens well i can tell this that the phone is actually smaller than wat it seems to be in the pic the build quality is good and the handsfree is pretty decent and the sound quality is amzing the mic is pretty sensitive too. overall i am satisfied with the handset. the rest is upto you. no the phone doesnt jam up with wi-fi

In US or Europe, there are wifi signals almost everywhere all the time. Can you tell in the place were you will use your phone, how many wifi signals do you actually get that will interfere with phone?

It is just like, buying HDTV, when there are no HDTV channels available & hoping that regular channels will be automatically be converted into HD channels.

2.4 or 5.6 GHZ phone are still being sold in US.

What I think now, is that you go in for panasonic model which is available in India. You may go in to one of the seller of the phone, & may be just take a demo. If you have any issue ( low voice, battery) at least you have the Indian warranty.

If I was not so crazy on DECT, I would have gone for 3611.

Hi mohit1981

Thanks a lot bro. was waiting for your reply..

Well There might be only ONE BSNL Modem with WIFI around which will be used rarely on Wifi.

I am not at all behind DECT hype, For me clarity in voice, range & good battery back up is must. What do you suggest now ?

I would go for for KX TG 3611 beause this model is officialy available in India, & hence support is not an issue. It has all the featues that you would be looking in cordless phone including good battery life

You may also speak to Mr. Amod Kumar, panasonic sales head for NCR at 9999030523. Get your query regarding voice reception etc. cleared. Try to visit one or two panasonic shops to check for this model, if you can.

Sure, Thats a good help.. I would rather speak to a person like you who have used the phone rather then its marketing people who will never say bad about their product :)

Finally two shortlisted.

Panasonic KX-TG1311BX - 1695- 1.8 GHz DECT, 300 metres range, Caller ID, 17-hour talk time, NO speakerphone

Panasonic KX-TG3611BX - 1999 - 2.4 GHz,Illuminated Display,Caller ID with log, Night Mode, 5-Hour Talk Time

A bit of confusion on this one... What will be diff b/w 1.8 Ghz & 2.4 Ghz, I really liked night mode which is you make phone silent when night mode is pressed, very helpful when you have elder people in home sleeping in day time or night time. Is this claim right - 17-hour talk time for TG1311BX ? While 3611 has only 5-Hour Talk Time .

What do you suggest ?

Buddy, since I have not used 2.4 or 5.6 Ghz phone, I will not be able to tell the difference.

KXTG 1311, I don't think is officially available in India. It is lower end DECT phone that is available.

DECT Frequency: 1880 MHz–1900 MHz in Europe, 1900 MHz-1920 MHz in China, 1910 MHz-1930 MHz in Latin America and 1920 MHz–1930 MHz in the US and Canada. DECT frequency not allocated in India

Since I wanted speaker phone I would have gone for 3611. Plus because it is officially available in India.

As per ebay specification, 3611 has Battery Life Upto 5-Hour Talk Time / 11 - Day Standby.
1311 has 17-hour talk time and 150-hour standby. ( Please do re-check)

So, you can see that 1311 has more talk time, 3611 has higher stand by hours.

Both models has their own advantages.

go for 3611...

up to 5 hrs talktime is good enough... usually people do keep the phone back on the base unit... so it recharges (and we r not that bad in load shedding either...lol)

caller ID n' illuminated display.... basic requirements

call log n' night mode... added advantage (check out the number of calls logged... anything above 20 is good)

n' the best... repair support available in India.

also please check the actual range...(its always less than what is specified....deteriorates with usage)

Talk time - u can talk on the phone continuously for the specified talk time, without any requirement of recharging...(thats recharging the battery from the base unit).

Standby - you can keep the phone, off the base unit, for specified amount of time, before its battery gets fully discharged....( that means that u don't have to keep the phone back on the base unit after the battery is fully charged. so if u are not using the phone it will stay ON for that specified time.)

Now both these times reduce after usage.

Hope I'm able to xplain.

Regards.

Talk time: that is the battery life it means that you are supposed to be able to talk on the phone for that many minutes before you need to recharge the battery

Stand-by Time : The total time a battery can power a phone that is not used to receive or perform a call but only standing by, which consumes less energy.
