To All people using Standard Chartered Manhattan Platinum Card,

Is there any way they stop charging 1000 Rs per year from 2nd year ? I mean if you use the card nicely (Per month transactions of 5000 to 8000 Rs) Do they cancel yearly charge ?

You can use your reward points to pay the annual charge but even I am looking for a way out :)

Maybe call them at year end and say that cancel the yearly fees or else im cancelling the card.

Use your card to the max, and then tell them you are cancelling since you don't want to pay the charge. They wouldn't want to loose a good customer since they earn everytime their card is swiped.

@Hacker

Friend of mine tried it. Swiped it for 10000 in a month & was hoping they would revert the yearly charge.

At the end of the year, they call up & ask if you like to extend by paying 1000 Rs Or cancel, He said cancel it as I don't want to pay yearly charge (Hoping they will give for free).. They canceled on the spot :P

@Otaku

PM me if you like to talk to SC Manhattan guy. Will give his number.

Well it's pretty strange...because SC haven't charged me anything and I'm using the Manhattan card for past 1 year and 3 months...it seems mine is truly lifetime free :D

standard chartered is good but never play with payment date , for my other cards sometimes i pay 1-2 days late and its ok with them but i paid 3 days late for manhattan card and they slapped me with 5k of late payment and interest charges :(

so just be little more cautious with standard chartered

now since ebay has started emi on hdfc card , its d best to have hdfc now imo , i musing it since 2 years , no problems at all

Great..

@Mohit, Will prefer Manhattan over HDFC,

Friend has over 11000 points in few months. Manhattan is very great for cashback & points.

Damm, Lets see, I think I have 4 more months.

@Roxtin

Bro, Why not take the shopping one ? I am going to take that only..

Utility may be max of 500 Rs of water or electricity bills and Telecom bills of may be 1000 to 2000.

If you got family & you visit Big Bazar or any big store for "Rashan pani" that card gives best cash back, Oh yes You have ebay shopping too :)

Well as per Stanchart "Cash back will be limited to Rs.500 per month and Rs.200 per transaction. The minimum purchase value to earn cash back is Rs.500." So Any card you get does not make much difference and moreover my total Telecom bills is around 7k :P

Got the Manhattan Platinum. Cashback and offers seem pretty nice, + I anyway run up a nice bill every month and pay back on time, so wayyyy better in terms of points and benefits than my existing HDFC card.

In addition to the cashback, Vouchers worth 500 for every 20k of spending isnt so bad :) (5 reward points/Rs. 100, Vouchers of Rs. 500 on every 900-1000 points)

@Roxtin: Thats only cashback. Reward points for all other spends as well. :) I will probably get back more from the points than from the cashback ;) So long as you do 40k of spend, the card has paid for itself (@1k per yr from 2nd yr)
