I had initially planned to buy philips dvp5965k but now I came to know that it doesn't play xvid codec movies and mp4s.
Some folks told me that a few dvd players play almost all codecs like divx, xvid and mp4 (example a player from lg).

So, I found LG DN 192H. But, I am not sure if I want to buy it.

Could you guys sugget a dvd player within a price tag of Rs.6000/-
Plays formats like Xvid, Divx, mp4 (and if possible rm or rmvb) and has usb connectivity.

My friend has a philips dvp 5965k in which even portable hdd can be connected and (of course only one drive gets detected but..) movies can be played. Not to mention even flash drives work well with it.

I have been looking for a good dvd player to watch movies for a while now, 'cause I had to go thru hell to compile multiple files onto a single dvd to watch them.

Here is an earlier link to a topic I posted regarding that:

So please help me out by telling which dvd player I should buy.

Dude, try the Ondia DFX-8500, I have bought it a couple of months ago, and it is working just fine.

It plays all the formats. Further it also has a card slot and a USB port, so you can play a movie right off your pen-drive. It is super cool.

A caveat is that it does not support Pendrives in excess of 8GB, so connecting a USB HDD is not possible.

There is also another player in Akai, but somehow, i do not seem to trust akai.

Both these players are priced around INR3500.

PS: These players do not play RMVB though. The other formats are not an issue. And for 6000 you can buy the DVD player with a decent set of speakers/subwoofer.

If you don't care for brands and just want a wannabe DivX/XviD/DVD/USB player - go in for the cheapo 'PASSION' brand player avble at all Big Bazaar stores :D

It wouldn't work for long..

But what the heck - It's priced at 1,350/- :P

Probably they have a one-year warranty as well !
