I am using samsung and LG both since more than one month. I have used both almost equally and found the samsung one better. Its faster than the LG.

And BTW why r u going for SH-812?? My SH-S203 beats it nice and easy. I bought LG for 1,300 and samsung for 1,600 - both sata. But now even SH203 is available at less than 1300.

the LG drives are much better than Samsung SH-S182

try finding LITE-ON LH-20A1P or Sony AW-G170A or Sony AW-G170C too

@hunter, he has finished all his sata ports thus he needs a pata drive

LG GSA 4167B is quite good.. but i would suggest Benq or Pioneer dvd writer
LG though has one weakness it does not read all your burned dvd's .. so i would recommend Benq or Pioneer

Are you limited to the list in the 1st post? If not, try to get the Samsung S-203B or the Sony AWG170S. These are the best in the market right now.

no SATA as he has finished all his SATA ports

for him Sony AW-G170A or Sony AW-G170C is the best as Lite-On is not available

I have the AWG-170a. Don't like it much. My older LG 4167b was way better.

^^ Did you flash it to the NEC firmware? They are usually much better than the Sony ones.
